The first two paragraphs of the article were a copyright violation from [http://www.microdialysis.se/technique.htm this page]. I've changed the wording to avoid copyright problems.
While copy editing, I changed "key low molecular components" to "key low molecular weight components" because molecular weight seemed to be what the article was referring to here. Could someone with knowledge about the issue verify if this is correct? By the way, this is a great article! It was very helpful in a paper I'm working on. Arrows in schematic are incorrect.
[edit]The arrows showing the direction of perfusate/dialysate flow appear to be reversed. The flow direction arrows in the schematic show the smaller diameter inner tubing functioning as the probe inlet. For a conventional vertical concentric probe design, the outlet (dialysate) tubing is usually of smaller diameter, typically consisting of fused silica capillary tubing. The reason for this is to optimize the temporal resolution of each sample by reducing the transit time from the active surface of the membrane to the collection apparatus (e.g., collection vial or sample loop). The transit time of the dialysate is reduced with the use of smaller diameter tubing because at a given flow rate, the dialysate has to displace a smaller total volume prior to arriving at the collection apparatus72.19.109.212 (talk) 20:15, 22 October 2020 (UTC).
