Duplication of article

[edit]

This article already existed under the name of Mikrogeophagus altispinosa. Please hold any edits to both articles. I'll try to get an admin to help with the proper moving so that we can transfer the old article history to this one. --Melanochromis 01:01, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Move is completed! --Ginkgo100talk 15:31, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Range

[edit]

Fishbase includes Brazil in the range. The latest data is that the fish found in Brazil are a new undescribed species and that M. altispinosus is restricted to Bolivia.

Also is it necessary to list the fishes range in the opening paragraph when there is a seperate section on the range only a couple of inches down the page?--Mummymonkey 00:13, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Mummymonkey, I've removed the rivers from the range in the lead. Until this (fish found in Brazil are a new undescribed species) hypothetical new species is described then it should be included here as Mikrogeophagus altispinosus. If you have a source suggesting this, point it out in a section on geographical variants which states that some variants may (or may not) be different species.
