[edit]In a special assizes case of 1816, User:Senra/Ely and Littleport riots 1816, 24 prisoners were condemned of which 19 had their sentences mitigated. This form of the term is not explained in the mitigation article. I have not been trained in legal stuff, but I seem to recall that we use the term commutted now. Could the mitigation article be expanded to include the (possibly outdated) use of mitigation in this context? --Senra (Talk) 14:52, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
