Based on St Thomas Aquinas
[edit]According to this free paper (doi:10.2436/l&l.v0i0.65977), the tripartion modus essendi/modus intelligendi/modus significandi is derived from the St Thomas Aquinas' interpretation of Aristotle. It is not referenced in the current WP article.
