Aging already

The MSL was originally scheduled for launch in 2009. Perhaps the plutonium dioxide for the 8 GPHS that will be used in each MMRTG has already been made and output is already reducing. Anyone know when the GPHS (to be used) were made ? Rod57 (talk) 14:45, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ownership

While the MMRTGs were initially supplied by Boeing when the program started, they are now supplied by Pratt & Whitney (owned by United Technologies Corporation) due to the sale of the Canoga Park, Ca facility in 2005.

How many watts per MMRTG?

Yes, there are proposals, not plans. In my opinion, NASA will eventually assign and use the 2 surplus MMRTGs because their radioactivity is continuously decaying and is being wasted. BatteryIncluded (talk) 18:27, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Multi Mission in the name

Article should probably emphasize in intro the significance of 'multi mission' in MMRTG, which is due the fact that it can "can operate both in atmospheres and in vacuum"[1] Ohsin (talk) 03:10, 14 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Could try to clarify : Why develop MMRTG rather than use previous design
