[edit]Yeah, this should be moved back to Nepalganj. Or possibly, more accurately, Nepālgañj. Otherwise it looks like it's some place called नेपालगुन्ज.BovineBeast 01:45, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
Spelling
In Nepali the name of the city is written "Nepalganj" and not Nepalgunj! In English one does not write the River "Gunges" instead of "Ganges" and you also write "Dhang", not "Dhung" or "Gandaki" and not "Gundaki", "Damak", not "Dumuk", "Dhankuta", not "Dhunkuta". There are many other examples, so why this exception to the rule? Sundar1 12:01, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
Spelling 2
there is no uniform spelling of nepali in english, (or any other language for that matter, thus, especially in english it is custom to follow pronunciation. there are numerous nepal road maps, some using "nepalganj", others using "nepalgung". the government of nepal basically uses the common transliteration of nepali "a" into latin "a" and not "u", although i know of exceptions. thus, all official government maps, especially the maps by the survey department, as well as dhud and the ministry of housing use "nepalganj"! since the nepali spelling is the only official spelling, wikipedia should stick to the nepali spelling. for now i added, that there is an alternative spelling.
besides, who has spelled "nepalgunj" and when was the "very beginning"? Sundar1 13:11, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
- Totally agree with Nepalganj instead of Nepalgunj. Birganj used to have this problem and it's been fixed. LADave (talk) 06:22, 1 May 2010 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Nepalgunj map.jpg
[edit]Image:Nepalgunj map.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:23, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Cuisine needs explanation
[edit]The terms "golgappas, dahibada, momos" are given as if they are familiar to all English speakers. Even after living in Nepal, I'm only familiar with "momo". These words truly need explanation, or possibly new articles that can then be linked to.
If the traditional cuisine of Nepalganj is Awadhi, this should also be discussed. Momos are of Tibetan origin and are probably a recent addition via Kathmandu. LADave (talk) 01:48, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
