Football career claims
[edit]For some years it was claimed that Norman Brookes played two games with St Kilda in 1898. However, that doesn't appear possible. A "Brooks" played for Victorian Football League club St Kilda Football Club in 1898, kicking two goals, but it cannot have been Norman as he was in Edinburgh, Scotland at the time of those matches.[1]

Wimbledon 1908
[edit]Why didn't Norman defend his Wimbledon championship in 1908? Paul Magnussen (talk) 06:30, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
- Brookes intended to defend his Wimbledon title as late as February of 1908 but in April cancelled his plans to travel to England. According to this article it was due to the ill health of his father (who was 75 years old at the time and died in 1910) which meant that Brookes had to spend more time at his father's company Australian Paper Mills. He gave priority to his business endeavours during this time and would not return to Wimbledon until 1914 when he again won the title. During these years he also skipped most Australasian Championships with the exception of the 1911 edition which was played in his hometown Melbourne. When he did play tennis he gave priority to the locally held Victorian Championships and the Davis Cup matches which he felt were more important than any championship.--Wolbo (talk) 18:57, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
- Now that's a very interesting and great find. Parts should be incorporated into the article for our readers. Thanks. Fyunck(click) (talk) 21:48, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
