In the german wikipedia this guy is pardoned. May someone clarify?

Nuon Chea was pardoned when he surrendered to the government in 1998, as Ieng Sary and Khieu Samphan were pardoned in 1996. The KR tribunal has not yet begun to prosecute but it seems likely that these pardons will not protect them. Paxse 03:59, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Big Fish?

[edit]

Is this some technical term to refer to the top tier of that murderous gang? If yes, it should be wikilinked. If not, paraphrased. Can somebody clarify? Bazuz (talk) 11:11, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently it's Associated Press-speak from A U.N.-backed court in Cambodia is expected to try the remaining four Khmer Rouge leaders -- the "Big Fish" -- in mid 2011, a senior Cambodian official said Tuesday.[1] Sean.hoyland - talk 12:04, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Well, thumbs up for you then for figuring that out! But I think it might be potentially confusing for the readers; also, as you pointed out that the term comes from AP it's probably not standard or common. Therefore, I'll rewrite the page. Thanks! Bazuz (talk) 12:10, 23 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed edits to the lede

[edit]

Over the past day, a variety of accounts have attempted to insert the following edit into the lede.

Chea was appealing his cases but death stopped the appeals and guilty convictions stand.

I don't have any stake in this edit, but some editors have expressed concern over the fact that this information A) is not properly cited and B) isn't a necessary edition. What do y'all think about this edit being inserted into the lede? ThadeusOfNazerethTalk to Me! 17:26, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

it is of huge importance, either keep it here or put it under trial, but since the intro paragraph says he was serving his sentence and died then naturally with death his conviction stands. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 148.255.56.104 (talk) 17:33, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If he was serving a sentence, then why would his conviction not stand? We don't need to clarify every single thing, especially something that there shouldn't be any disagreement about. ThadeusOfNazerethTalk to Me! 17:38, 4 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
