WWI wounds
[edit]It says he was wounded at the offensive Somme in 1914. Surely the Somme offensive was 1916? Does anyone know which is the rightb year? I would guess 1916 since he volunteered to join the army after the outbreak of war in 1914 and is therefore unlikely to have seen action in that year. - This is a conflation, he was thrice wounded: first at St Julian (sic- St Julien in French, Sint Juliaan in Flemish) near Ypres in 1914 (so he was in action that year), the second near Givenchy in 1915, and during Battle of the Somme itself on 15 September 1916 (Source -biography "Oliver Leese" by Rowland Ryder, 1987). I will adjust text where needed.Cloptonson (talk) 21:30, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
World War II
[edit]"Once the news circulated within the Fourteenth Army, mutinies and mass resignations of officers were threatened." Citation please? I have found authorities that there was "turmoil" within the army (http://www.answers.com/topic/william-slim-1st-viscount-slim#cite_note-29) and the news was met with "dismay and incredulity" (http://adb.anu.edu.au/biography/slim-sir-william-joseph-11713) but I can't find a solid reference for threats of mutiny and mass resignation. I would be very interested in this source.(talk) 08:20, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
