Languages

[edit]

This comment was left on the Talk:European Patent Office page. Looking here, I think there is room for discussion of the language provisions in connection with oppositions

"Does the EPC is constitutionnal in most european countries where the national constitution that the language of the State is not an EPO language? It is weird to see think that the opposition procedure might be only accessible to citizens who speak one of the 3 languages of the EPO." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.76.232.103 (talkcontribs)

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to do this. GDallimore (Talk) 13:30, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Statistics, costs and duration is missing slightly misleading

[edit]

The numbers presented are averaged over every year from 1980 to 2005, going through several changes in how patent is being handled, scope, patent reforms, technology changes, and market changes. Thus, a 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 in accepted, changed and thrown out, are providing a misleading statement. To really provide some accurate data, numbers from recent years (2010 or 2011) should be added. Thanks for the improvement. Good point indeed. However, I wonder whether the word "in" in that sentence could be removed: "Of those, over the course of 1980-2005, in about 1/3 are revoked, 1/3 are maintained in an amended form ..., and 1/3 are maintained as granted"... --Edcolins (talk) 17:51, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That was a mistake of mine. thanks for noticing, and I hope its better now by removing the word "in". Belorn (talk) 20:21, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, it's better, thanks. --Edcolins (talk) 20:31, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pre-grant?

[edit]

And what about pre-grant? --46.232.229.52 (talk) 08:33, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your question. There is no pre-grant opposition proceedings available at the EPO. I have added a note in the article, explaining this. --Edcolins (talk) 16:16, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
