Talk:Overload (novel)

I began this article by copying and editing the Wheels_(novel) article and making the appropriate edits. When I have more time I will put up a full plot synopsis and references to real life concerns covered in the book. Matt 03:21, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

I just read the german version (for lack of an english one at hand), and there are quite a few differences in the plot, compared to the summary on this page. Maybe someone can verify whether the german translation really differs that much, or if the plot summary has the events partially wrong? Specifically:

- Nim gets the idea himself, while being nearby, to check who the red circle named "Sloan" on the power map is (as opposed to Teresa convincing him to do so)

- there's no mention of Nim angering his family by befriending Karen Sloan

- the only coal-fired plant in planning is Tunipah - Fincastle and Devil's gate are planned as geothermal / hydro plants from the start

- Nim jumps onto the conveyor belt to save the worker (he doesn't run down to the plant floor) - the "comely young lady" is Thurston's sister in law Daphne, and she didn't see the accident/rescue, she heard about it from her brother-in-law / read the news

- again, the geothermal and the hydro plants are planned from the beginning, not as a result of the trip to Colorado

- the accident / electrocution at Devil's Gate happens long before the trip to Colorado (when there is already talks about the hydro, never about a coal plant there)

- the think group only expose Georgos by "coded incoming mail", Birdsong is exposed by Mrs. Molineaux thanks to Yvette's confession on tape

- Nim discovers that his wife has cancer (most likely dying from it, but with years to live) earlier in the plot

I checked and I think at least part of those points are actually the same in the english book
