In support of the 1815 birthdate for my direct maternal ancestor, a letter from Peter's father, William Cross, to his mother, Hannah Woods Cross, dated September 1815 and addressed to their home at 15 Water St., New York City, mentioning the upcoming birth, still exists and is in possession of my family. William was lost at sea during that voyage, and the letter was passed to an inbound ship just prior to that disappearance. Peter could not have been born in England in 1820. Bill S.
