Manchester United

[edit]

He now plays for Machester United — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.6.221.10 (talk) 15:42, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Can you provide a reliable source to confirm that he has actually signed? Everything I've read says that he is "set" to move, see here. doomgaze (talk) 16:17, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The chinese version of the united website has confirmed it. http://www.manunited.com.cn/zh-cn/NewsAndFeatures/FootballNews/2011/Jun/Reds-announce-Jones-deal.aspx.
Roughly translated: "Manchester United has confirmed signing defender Phil Jones from Blackburn.
Phil Jones becomes United's first summer signing in 2011.
The club made an official announcement confirming the transfer on Jun 8:
"Manchester United are pleased to announce coming to an agreement with Blackburn. Phil Jones has signed a 5 year deal, the transfer fee is undisclosed.
The player has agreed personal terms and passed a medical in Manchester today.
Some other stuff about his appearance record for Blackburn and playing for England U21 in Denmark." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.70.224.98 (talk) 19:15, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure? I just get a "page not found" message. None of the UK sources have confirmed it, not even a The Guardian article published 15 mins ago: [1]. doomgaze (talk) 21:47, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

who is taylor

[edit]

"International career Taylor had represented the England Under-19 making his debut in the 3–1 win over Turkey on the 17 November 2009." who is taylor? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.254.46.254 (talk) 17:30, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch. The article was subject to a lot of vandalism for a few weeks and it appears some edits went through undetected. I have restored the article to a previous version that was much more informative. doomgaze (talk) 17:44, 8 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Blackburn Career

[edit]

This is a bit of a mess and doesn't make a lot of sense (especially the bit about West Ham. Surely there should be mention of an injury in there? Besides, does it really need to be so long with details of games where he played 90 minutes? How many it is cut down and only lists debut's, and important games? Heywoodg 12:49, 19 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have cleaned it up a bit. Heywoodg 10:28, 20 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

International Career

[edit]

His international career is obviously over. He hasn't played for England for well over 3 years, nor has he been in a squad, he doesn't even play all, why do people insist on saying he's still an England player? Is there some Wikipedia policy on this that I'm missing? Some number of years that he has to not play?

Ashley Young hasn't played for England in the same time, he's not listed as an England player and is on record saying he will never retire from England duty. David Nugent never announced his retirement, why isn't he listed as an England player? Rambo Apocalypse (talk) 01:49, 25 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Cocobb8 (💬 talk to me! • ✏️ my contributions) 21:59, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What the IP editor wanted was a change to the lead, and he/she suggested a wording. But I do not see any reliable sources saying that Jones has retired from football.-- Toddy1 (talk) 08:54, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
