HRK Holdings

[edit]

Why isn’t there a lot of info relating to HRK holdings or the companies that previously owned it? PikeyPoint (talk) 05:53, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

Why is it named Piney Point? --Helium4 (talk) 15:22, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It was the name given to it by its original company in the ‘60s. PikeyPoint (talk) 17:51, 5 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Incident Edits

[edit]

I'm following this subject and suggest the following edits and attention to the Incident section:

  • First paragraph - "...reported to authorities March 26..." should be "...reported to authorities on March 26..."
  • Second paragraph - "...which contain radioactive material." should be "...that contain radioactive material."

Also in the second paragraph, I would suggest the following sentence rewrite to include a named and quoted citation, as is indicated in the source article:

  • Current - "Officials said that once the situation has been resolved, they intended to close the site permanently."
  • Rewrite - "Florida Department of Environmental Protection Secretary Noah Valenstein said, “After this incident, and looking into the future, we will stay mobilized until this site is closed. It’s our commitment to make sure this is the last chapter and last story about this site.”

Without overselling my rationale, the Secretary's comments are set against the backdrop of a state of emergency the governor announced on April 3rd, 2021. I would also suggest a "developing current event" status for this article and/or sub-section.

Additional corroborative news sources may be required before the sub-section can quality for a direct verbatim quote.

There's also an official statement from HRK Holdings, the company that owns Piney Point [1]

From a 4/16/21 Miami Herald article:

″HRK’s forceful statement comes after several state leaders, including Gov. Ron DeSantis and FDEP Secretary Noah Valenstein, have vowed to hold the company accountable for the environmental crisis, including lawsuits and huge fines.″

@Xin Jing: for nuance edits like this there are easiest done directly in the article -- feel free to try yourself :) Sadads (talk) 21:50, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
