Suggestion/question

[edit]

Great start to an interesting article. Is there any way we can get a better picture than a 113 year old engraving? Is the specimen accessible to the public? I'd love to see the colors on this insect. //Blaxthos ( t / c ) 20:27, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There are photos around, but none appears to be available under a free license. If someone fancied a trip to the Museum of Comparative Zoology with a camera and a permission form, that would be great. In the meanwhile, there's a reasonable-sized picture here, for those who are interested. --Stemonitis (talk) 03:08, 3 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Another question

[edit]

Can't tell from the pic and the blurb - is it in amber? Or is the fossil an impression of it in rock? 86.150.103.35 (talk) 20:35, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The specimen a compression/impression fossil in shale of the Florissant Formation. --Kevmin § 22:39, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
