[edit]"In port he prefers a diet of rare red meat" I haven't read the book so I'm not sure if there is a mistake here but I assume that uncooked meat is meant. "Red meat" stays "red meat" even if cooked.
- I realize this question was asked years ago, nonetheless: presumably the meaning was red meat as opposed to white meat. He probably doesn't regularly eat undercooked chicken. --lainzillatalk 22:03, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
==From the book: "We will not speak of all Queequeg's peculiarities here; how he eschewed coffee and hot rolls, and applied his undivided attention to beefsteaks, done rare." (Chap. 5, last paragraph)
Queequeg is from the south sea not just any island
Interesting that we have this complete article on Queequeg but none on Captain Ahab. -R. fiend 16:48, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
Is it worth mentioning that Ishmael and Queequeg have a sexual relationship? In the first paragraph of Chap. 4, Ishmael describes Queequeg's embrace of him by saying "You had almost thought that I had been his wife." There are many other such suggestions, which was about as frank as a mid-ninteenth century novel could be about the subject. --Moly 23:58, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Looks like this page about Queequeg is vandalism prone. Its a shame that kiddies have to spoil it. |
