The result of the move request was: No consensus to move. The opposers argued that there were other legitimate targets for the "(roller coaster)" disambiguator, and it was not conclusively shown that the Blackpool one is primary. Revolution (Pleasure Beach Blackpool)Revolution (roller coaster) – Unable to perform the move, which is justified, since there is only one roller coaster now (as of 2016) with this name. – GoneIn60 (talk) 00:54, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@GoneIn60: This is a contested technical request (permalink). Anthony Appleyard (talk) 06:07, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • But if there were formerly other roller coaster(s) called Revolution, the distinction still needs to be maintained, since there is no law against talking or writing about old times or about something which no longer exists. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 06:07, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Anthony Appleyard: That's a fair point, but consider this. Visitors searching for "Revolution" are going to end up at the primary topic. From there, they could follow a link to the disambiguation page, which only has "Revolution (Pleasure Beach Blackpool)" listed. There's no reason to believe that someone searching for the old coaster name (the one at Six Flags Magic Mountain) is going to somehow end up at "Revolution (roller coaster)", which is why I've proposed the move to that name. If there was any chance they would, then yes, it would be better to leave the distinction in place as you've recommended. However, I think it would be more efficient to perform the move and add a hatnote at the top pointing to the other coaster article (The New Revolution (roller coaster)), as opposed to relying on the disambiguation page, since there are only two possibilities for the roller coaster name search per WP:MULTIDABS. Personally, I don't think the hatnote is necessary, but it would be better than leaving "Revolution (Pleasure Beach Blackpool)" under its current title. --GoneIn60 (talk) 13:22, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@In ictu oculi: What history would be lost by the move? Currently, Revolution (roller coaster) redirects to Revolution (disambiguation), where only Revolution (Pleasure Beach Blackpool) is listed. I'm proposing that we save visitors the extra step of navigation by performing the move, and then if needed, add a hatnote at the top that links to The New Revolution (roller coaster). --GoneIn60 (talk) 15:51, 7 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
To be clear, there is only one coaster that currently has this name, and there was only one other coaster that previously had this name. While I understand your citation of WP:Recentism in support of your opposal, the others are questionable stretches. And as for WP:PRECISE, I would argue that leaving the name as is would qualify the title as overprecise. The assumption that sources may, for one reason or another, continue to refer to The New Revolution at Six Flags as just Revolution is also a stretch and a rare occurrence at best. Remember, a hatnote at the top of the article will clearly mention The New Revolution and link to it. I understand the tendency to preserve on Wikipedia, but it's just not necessary here. --GoneIn60 (talk) 15:37, 8 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Duration Of Ride "Revolution" at Pleasure Beach

[edit]

Hi, I created this account just to say this, and I don't want to jump straight into editing a page in case I upset someone or step on someone's toes.

Regarding the time of the ride of "Revolution" at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Currently the page says 66 seconds. This time is not accurate. The actual duration is exactly 61 seconds.

My source for this is my own experience. I am currently a ride operator at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, and I am fully trained to operate Revolution. I have two seasons experience operating the ride. Every day I operate it, I have to note timed runs, this is how I can be so specific regarding the ride's duration.

Please respect confidentiality and do not disclose publicly my discussing this as I do not wish be in breach of contract with BPB. I am sure I have not disclosed anything sensitive, but I still ask you to respect confidentiality. Alee Enn (talk) 21:21, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
