Thanks

[edit]

Kudos for making this article. I was hoping someone would take a stab at creating one. I'll put some template tags on it to help it get noticed by other potential contributors. --HunterZ 00:46, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Table based rewrite

[edit]

Today I added a whole lot more information using sources listed in the external links section, hope it's useful. We could do with a photo to brighten it up a bit :)

Dear Flibble, this is nice. We will enjoy it. Best --Weissmann (talk) 17:16, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

2010 Update suggestions

[edit]

I've spent a bit of time updating the tables of products to add in the references. I had previously used the links in the 'External Links' section as the references, but this formalises them, and helps people see what is and isn't referenced.

Suggestions:

  • The article has gained a lot of Roland's other GM and GS products over time, Studio Canvas, CM-* etc, should these be split out to seperate articles?
  • Track down references for the specs of all products in the tables that don't have references.
  • Add to the prose at the begininging of the article a bit more of the history, what market were the sound canvases aimed at? Did they sell well? did they replace a class of products? have they been replaced by a class of products? (provided we can find references of course)
  • Intro prose, I think the Sound Canvas used Linear Arithmetic synthesis on PCM samples, rather than just PCM.
  • Are their any notable users or uses of the sound canvas? (with refs)

Practical effect of "technically not GM compatible (GM reset interpreted as GS reset)"?

[edit]

For some models the article says "technically not GM compatible (GM reset interpreted as GS reset)" but nowhere does it explain what the practical effect of this "bug" is. Please add if you know it! -- 77.7.191.86 (talk) 16:24, 26 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
