There seems to be a bit of mythology concerning the school's WW2 role as a refugee screening centre. That is all it was and there were no cells or thumbscrews! The inmates were treated well but every effort was made to get every shred of useful intelligence. The Spencer Park School was housed in the RVPB and also in new buildings adjacent,built sometime around 1960.
