Tages

[edit]

although only the Steam release seems to be affected by this issue.
Both DVD and Steam versions with Tages have 5 installation limit!!

Beno HR (talk) 09:00, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The 5 install limit seems to have been removed from the Steam version sometime over the summer. See [1] —Preceding unsigned comment added by 205.132.129.124 (talk) 16:07, 24 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Added Editions

[edit]

I added the short piece on the limited edition version of the game that is also available. Thought it would be relevant. Genomaniac (talk) 12:20, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have added the minimum system requirements to the article, im new to Wiki so it may be sloppy but I hope it helps! —Preceding unsigned comment added by ZD.Dan (talk) 15:22, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Until a source says otherwise, I think we should leave the release date at Q1, as this is all GSC has said, as far as I know. Anyone with sources saying otherwise? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.245.117.174 (talk) 13:19, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

According to steam the release date is May 2008 (http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=game&AppId=9390). GSC has said that the estimated release date has been pushed back from Q1 2008, which is pretty much over anyway, to the first half of 2008.

Spoiler - Its more than reasonable to assume that a number people who've yet to complete the first game may be interested in the content of this article. Casually spoiling the first game's plot twist is, therefore, just a tad idiotic, don't you think? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.56.80.23 (talk) 21:21, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • While I agree, apparently it's acceptable for a wiki article to contain spoilers. However with the game unreleased, wouldn't any plot information be speculation/unverifiable at this point? I rewrote the first paragraph to reflect what I could find on the game studio's site. Feel free to revert if there's an actual source for the info that was there before. - MalkavianX (talk) 16:27, 25 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A Real Entry

[edit]

Hi all,

I was curious if anyone else was interested in re-writing this article into a proper one (without all the dot points) before the game comes out? IMHO, it will be easier to get a kind of 'basic template' going, so that way once we receive more info and it is released, the amount of work will be reduced. If, however, you all feel fine with the current one, then I'll just wait too. I have started a sort of re-write myself, which you can view at my talk page (edit: removed it). I have removed all referencing from that version.

Cheers, Greglo (talk) 06:49, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

yeah it would be nice to have a clean well formed entry, am up for it, will add the stuff soon, havin exams now :(

I have too :( But then I get 7 weeks off... if you're up for it, then I will do it. I've deleted the stuff from my talk page, but I still have it on my comp. Greglo (talk) 06:25, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I added a few details and formatted it, still a long way to go. will add much later. my exams ended on 18th june :p visio159 —Preceding comment was added at 18:14, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Added the EU release date, couldn't get them to be in a list though so could someone else please fix that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.20.80.248 (talk) 11:20, 1 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the completely unwikified entry in the Bug Reports section and made a quick rewrite in an attempt to make it a more unbiased entry. As far as I can see, it is valid to mention the problems people are having with the game but it should be delivered in a more nuanced version and with less hate. If someone feels like scrapping what I've written so far, or wants to make major change to improve the article as a whole, be my guest. --82.99.42.253 (talk) 11:08, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Early Australian release

[edit]

it says in the article that the global release was on 5th of September, but i purchased it on the 4th. should this be mentioned in the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.6.120.159 (talk) 02:31, 6 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

US release earlier after all?

[edit]

I went to preorder it tonight (I was near my favourite Gamestop and thought I'd stop in) and the guy who sold me the preorder said they could have it as early as the 8th. I think either he didn't know what he was talking about (this is Gamestop after all) or there's some funky stuff going on with the releases. dethtoll (talk) 03:32, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Came out on the ninth of september. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.233.12.188 (talk) 19:31, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed versions

[edit]

Fixed the version listing so the Russian reads 1.01 and the International reads 1.503; this was entered in correctly orginally. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.60.168.15 (talk) 13:01, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of "Bug Reports"

[edit]

I think the Bug Report section needs to be removed. It appears a bit opinionated and biased and looks like it's been written by an angry customer.

The majority of gamers actually haven't experienced many bugs and are playing the game, it is the minority that are unable to play who are posting on the forums. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.60.168.15 (talk) 13:05, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This game is a buggy POS,i pre-ordered this, running on quad core machine with 4Gb of DDR2 1024Mz RAM and it has CtD a bit through the whole game. I've had to restart twice because i broke the AI by doing things in a strange order. Now half way through (i think) and can't get anywhere because ALL my Savegames CtD. Do Not Buy This Game.(Hypnosadist) 01:07, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Patch v1.5.04 is now out for the international edition, slight problem that it renders ALL SAVES USELESS, Thanks crappy programers one and all. Now i get the joy of playing the early levels for a forth time (if i bother). Do Not Buy This Game. (Hypnosadist) 01:37, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Applied the patch and had my first CtD in less than 1 hour of gameplay. 'Do Not Buy This Game (Hypnosadist) 02:29, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't think they could make a game that crashes more and has more problems than the first one. And they did. It fucking sucks so far.

Cheers for the opinions people. I've just ordered it :thumb:--Koncorde (talk) 00:34, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And 1 crash aside, no issues. --Koncorde (talk) 00:38, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Who put "Lebiediew"?

[edit]

In the game his name is lebedev —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.77.241.70 (talk) 18:10, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lebedev is an anglicised version of Lebiediew, and features in English language versions of the game. Lebiediew preserves the pronunciation of the Cyrillic original. --81.159.161.115 (talk) 08:30, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I realize this is an ancient talk thread, but I have the US Steam version of the game and currently his name is spelled "Lebedev". -- Y|yukichigai (ramble argue check) 18:31, 20 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Escapist Magazine review from 'reception' section

[edit]

Why should we have Ben Yahtzee's 'review' included? It is well known that he doesn't so much rate games as he does point out all the perceived and often grossly opinionated flaws in a comical manner. But I would hardly ever take his reviews as even close to reliable. I don't recall a single game he's actually praised, save Portal. His 'reviews' are more a parody on actual reviews, than reliable reviews themselves.

Please don't include his reviews in any articles. While I personally find his pseudo-reviews to be funny at times, it's more of a comedy routine than an actual review of the games ups and downs, and anyone who has seen his many rants would quickly realize this. 71.229.69.68 (talk) 10:32, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

the games biggest flaws are the same that in soc, in other words, the endgame isn't finished(scripting/gametesting/plotwise), as such a review that points that out should be included.

Chronolgy of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series

[edit]

If S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky is the "prequel to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl" why is its release date in the subsequent year? I don't know these games at all, so am reluctant to amend the wording or dates myself. Perhaps I've missed something! trevj (talk) 11:59, 28 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not really familiar with the games either, but surely the release date has nothing do to with it? It's not uncommon for prequels to be made after the game that follows it plot wise. But even with my limited knowledge of the game, from the plot I can see it's defiantly a prequel. Plus there are plenty of sources to support it. Яehevkor 12:11, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Makes perfect sense when explained like that! Thanks. -- Trevj (talk) 22:46, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiproject Video games assessment

[edit]

I have kept the article at Start class for the moment. Unfortunately it's too poorly sourced for its length to promote. It also has similar issues to S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl. Please check in at Talk:S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl#Wikiproject: Video games assessment as many of those issues also apply here. --Teancum (talk) 13:36, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lead Section

[edit]

I added additional information to the lead section of the article. Provided a brief summary of the plot, information about the map & new areas, and new gameplay features. I also corrected the spelling of Lebedev in several locations of the Plot section. --SDRobots (talk) 17:56, 8 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
