Esperanza's Name Day

[edit]

The last sentence of the first paragraph of the Plot isn't really relevant to what happens in the film. Furthermore, most references to a Name Day for someone named Esperanza suggest the 18th of December, as the day of Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza (see also Virgin of Hope of Macarena), as well as others, but none that I've seen mention 12th of November. You don't have to do this with every addition. I have moved the edit as it does not belong in Critical Reception. Best, Luigibob 17:25, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pauline Kael

[edit]

Pauline Kael didn't pan this film because she was part of the Hollywood establishment serving the interests of McCarthyism; she disliked it because she thought it was a lot of sentimental cant. She was equally harsh on Hollywood films that demonized Communists, as her review of "Night People" illustrates. Reviews of both films are included under the chapter "Morality Plays Left and Right" in her book "I Lost it at the Movies." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.91.156.81 (talk) 07:55, 5 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Juarez

[edit]

Why is Benito Juarez referred to in the film as the father of Mexico when this honour is generally attributed to Hydalgo? Rsallan2002 (talk) 02:26, 24 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
