- Support: I prefer the Nebraska Sandhills/Carolina Sandhills option. –Swid 22:25, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
- Support: I prefer the Nebraska Sandhills/Carolina Sandhills option too. LuiKhuntek 09:25, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
- Support move, but prefer Sandhills (Nebraska) / Sandhills (Carolina) option: both seem to be named "Sandhills" only. (I prefer the Foo Sandhills option to not moving, though). Kusma (討論) 16:21, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
- Support I concur with Kusma: since both are named "Sandhills", I'd prefer the Sandhills (Nebraska) / Sandhills (Carolina) option, but I'd still support the move either way --Lox (t,c) 19:07, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
Discussion
[edit]It was brought up a while back on my talk page that the Sand Hills article should be moved to an article name that uses the "Sandhills" variant. Since there is a current article using that placename, I looked into the Google popularity of the various locations and spellings:
Google search terms — page hits
- nebraska "sand hills" -sandhills — 77,800
- carolina "sand hills" -sandhills — 45,600
- nebraska "sandhills" -sand -hills — 194,000
- carolina "sandhills" -sand -hills — 256,000
- sandhills england -nebraska -carolina — 41,400
For both U.S. locations, the "sandhills" variant predominates. As both regions in the U.S. are broadly comparable in Google popularity, the word "sandhills" itself should become a disambig page, and the two articles moved to names suggested above. –Swid 22:20, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
Result
[edit]Page moved. As both of the pages describe their subjects as "Sandhills" (without their state names), I have chosen to move to Sandhills (Nebraska) / Sandhills (Carolina). Eugene van der Pijll 18:14, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
