Scammonden bridge claim

[edit]

This claim that the "Scammonden bridge, the longest single span non-suspension bridge in the world when built". seems very dubious. M62 was built in the 70s. There a number of single span non suspension bridges that are obviously longer an older: Sydney Harbour Bridge, Hell Gate Bridge. It might need to be further qualified, for example it might be the longest concrete arch bridge. Or it needs some citation. Georgipetrov 19:38, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The cost of the bridge seems incorrect. £13.8m was the cost of the entire stretch of motorway, also including Scammonden dam (the largest rockfill dam in the country). http://www.iht.org/motorway/m62bounpole.htm 136.8.152.13 11:53, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
