explain tubes as a decent analogy to bandwidth?
[edit]Please, someone with sufficient knowledge and the time to track down sources, add a section to the article on
- the extent to which tubes represent a decent analogy to bandwidth and
- the connection to the issue of net neutrality.
Sure, Ted Stevens was ignorant about this stuff, but with some help, a reader of this article can be better. Hey, Stevens set a low bar. Wikipedia aims higher.
Thanks in advance for any help.

- While "tubes" specifically may not be an adequate description of internet traffic, I'm of the mind that internet routing infrastructure is, in fact, adequately described as a series of pipes. Might be worth looking into in terms of the origin of Stevens' misconception. 2001:56A:FB4D:5200:B62E:99FF:FEA3:D19A (talk) 05:52, 6 April 2023 (UTC)
