[edit]

Notable. It may not seem so, but Super Smash Brothers has a large cult following. It is one of the view video games scheduled to be televised in prime time tv. The heart of the Smash Bros community is smashboards. This is a game that has had a phenonemanally active fan base, especially in comparision to number of titles sold. What Discussion to Delete?

[edit]

I'm not seeing any discussion in favor of deleting this :) I'm going to remove the deletion notice from the article, eventually, if no one disagrees? Mathiastck 18:21, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It seems agreed the smashboard are notable... but perhaps this article isn't good enough for inclusion? Nevermind, I'm an inclusionist, that can't be true :) Mathiastck 20:09, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

2011

[edit]

This page is not yet complete, but we plan on adding more resources relating to all three games that this community is focused around. Additionally, we are still doing research to find more articles/notable sources concerning Smashboards.com.

In terms of structure, we plan on outlining the different sub-pages of the website and talking about different aspects of the community and it's members. We plan on being completely objective; our goal is simply to provide more information about the most popular Super Smash Bros. series gaming forum: smashboards. Amonina (talk) 04:22, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

To any other prospective editors, this is a project for a class at Cornell University, please do not delete this page - it will be updated gradually over the next few weeks until it reaches the point where it will hopefully be a polished article meeting all of Wikipedia's criteria. Thank you. Input and suggestions are welcome. BreakfastPancakes. (talk) 04:41, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Observer Comments

[edit]

One potential section (or subsection) you could add is tournament rules and regulations and/or major infractions that have occurred (http://www.gytnews.com/articles/news-and-info/smashboards-committee-punishes-three-for-splitting-prize-money.html). The link mentions a Smashboards Brawl Backroom Committee, which you could also elaborate on. Good luck adding more content and citations! --Anaccountforclass (talk) 23:57, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the above post, the Brawl Back Room should definitely be mentioned. It's a huge part of the community. Also, a short history of the tournament scene and Smashboards' place in its changes. --T-Ravenous (talk) 00:24, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Another consideration, and something my team has been doing with our own wiki, is to really delve into the community and talk about the culture within it. This could include looking at some of the top ranking players in the tournament or those who consistently garner respect in the SmashBoards community. You could maybe mention their favorite characters or their testimonies on the site or how they rose in the ranks. This could provide supporting evidence for gaging the competitive spirit of the forum. --ejs296 (talk) 04:20, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
