Article Evaluation
[edit]Sports photography is an important form of Visual Culture. The article has really good structure by breaking down to three major chapter - Equipment, Techniques and Photographers. It provides the basic information about the lenses and camera bodies typically used in sports photography. I think it would be helpful to add motion cameras, such as go pro to the list as more and more source of sports photography are taken in actions. I think another thing would help to improve the quality of the paragraph is to give more specific techniques to Sports Photography. As a sports fan, I usually struggled in taking good quality pictures in sports events. It would be better to give step by step instructions from finding the location, to setting up the flash lights and finally framing the picture. The reader would benefit if there is specific instructions, it will increase the impact of Sports Photography. Further after Photographers sections, it would be important to add a parallel chapter to list several famous, influential examples of the Sports Photography. I could think of Michael Jordan - “Airness” dunk picture would be a great example to study for future photographers. Last but not the least, I think it is important to create a linkage between sports photography and visual arts. Sports photography is an important method of the visual culture. As a student currently enrolled in Visual Culture class, a lot of people have misunderstanding of visual culture. In fact, visual culture is everywhere in our life. As important as sport events are in our life, it is already a component of visual culture, which could not be overlooked. I am looking to use my knowledge learnt from the course to improve the article. My goal is to get more reader to recognize the real meaning of visual culture and potentially leader more people into Sports photography by providing specific and detailed information.Haitaoyu (talk) 04:58, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
