Article title

This is an issue with all Squatting in Foo articles, but is especially prominent with this one, as "Squatting in Asia" is much more likely to lead readers to expect an article about how sitting in the squatting position is prominent in Asian cultures. (Try searching Google for squatting in Asia -site:wikipedia.org.) Surely there must be some natural disambiguation that helps identify the topic more clearly? --Paul_012 (talk) 06:45, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Paul_012 that's an interesting point. Personally I don't see it as such a big deal but would be fine with you adding a disambiguating hatnote if you want to? I think the only time this issue was previously discussed was back in 2010 - Talk:Squatting/Archive_1#This_article_needs_renaming. Mujinga (talk) 10:35, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a hatnote, but I still think we should keep looking for a title that better fits the WP:CRITERIA. I don't have any good ideas right now, but if someone does, that could serve as the basis for a wider discussion. --Paul_012 (talk) 15:01, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for adding the hatnote, which I edited, see what you think. Per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC I'm still not sure if there's much of an issue here, particularly since there isn't a page called (for example) Squatting position in Asia which needs to be disambiguated. There are over one billion squatters worldwide and the phenomenon is under-represented on Wikipedia. Feel free to join Wikipedia:WikiProject_Squatting to write and improve articles about squatters, squats and squatting in every country across the globe. Or drop a message on the talkpage about something else you'd like to see covered, input is welcome. This is just one of many ways to counter systemic bias on Wikipedia!
