Easier for women, really?
[edit]this is surely bullshit, if this were so it would be a general argument for all women doing board sports but it isn't so, removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.11.90.45 (talk) 14:11, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
i dont get it.
[edit]i dont get it.
-SUP = Stand Up Paddle Surfing, the boards are wider/longer than normal surf boards, can be ridden in flat calm waters or on waves ocean or otherwise. Even dogs like SUP: http://poseidonstandup.com/images/stories/marcus.jpg, it's that easy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Whiskeyguzzlersupream (talk • contribs) 23:04, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Yes I agree that a clear distinction should be made between SUP Surfing and SUPing. (My dog does not like the whitewater stuff.) You are not Surfing when there are no waves to surf.
Also "offers surfers the ability to catch more waves in a set" It is a rare surf spot where you can catch more than one wave in a set (of waves) Maybe: offers surfers the ability to catch more waves. or offers surfers the ability to catch more waves in a session. How can I add Hebrew?
[edit]This is Stand up paddle surfing in Hebrew: http://he.wikipedia.org/wiki/SUP —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.180.39.78 (talk) 20:45, 4 August 2010 (UTC)
Article probably not correct on dog-easyness!
[edit]This SUP thing is actually a variant of the "canadian canoe" method of propulsion or maybe venetian rowing, but without the oarlock. It cannot be easy to learn, since one-sided, face-forward, single-oar rowing/paddling requires the "J-stroke" method to be able to go in a straight line and that is a notoriously tricky movement! 82.131.133.92 (talk) 19:29, 21 August 2011 (UTC)
Ride standing waves?
[edit]Really? nobody rides "standing waves". we are all riding traveling waves, usually when they are just about to break. Yoavt (talk) 13:13, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
Fishing removed?
[edit]Why is the section about fishing removed as "promotional" there are many fishing SUPs now available, and some of the newer models are hybrids that offer engine power. It doesn't seem promotional to mention that.
- The link you added clearly violates WP:EL and doesn't qualify as a reliable source. OhNoitsJamie Talk 02:21, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
Would this be a more preferable source? Motorized paddleboards are being used in fishing, so is the whole part of that content invalidated because of that link? https://www.wsj.com/articles/the-new-fishing-vessel-of-choice-stand-up-paddleboards-1534357600 Mlepisto (talk) 02:53, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
- That's a paywall article, which is not ideal (though not prohibited); the paywall makes it difficult to independently verify. I also note that it seems to be connected to the BOTE commercial link you initially used ("BOTE ambassadors"). OhNoitsJamie Talk 04:07, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
- I frankly don't care if there is no reference, I was just attempting to provide a link to something that provided credibility to the topic of motorized fishing paddle boards including which are a new (if somewhat odd in my opinion) combination that provide access to otherwise hard to reach fishing grounds. How would you suggest proceeding that would be more compliant?Mlepisto (talk) 16:43, 7 May 2020 (UTC)
Citations, Names, and Dates
[edit]I am working through the content to add citations. As I move through it, I'll make adjustments for readability as well as make corrections that correlate to the sources cited. Please let me know if there is something you see that I changed that differs from the information you have.MollyMoxenFree (talk) 21:44, 19 June 2020 (UTC)
Topic Organization
[edit]I’m going to make some adjustments to the organization of the article. I plan to replace the subject heading of Materials and Design with Equipment, to be followed with subtopics of each item; to include board, paddle, leash and life vest. MollyMoxenFree (talk) 18:21, 26 June 2020 (UTC)

New sections needed
[edit]Under HISTORY, there needs to be new subcategories added, to include SUP yoga, whitewater SUP, and SUP surfing. Special equipment for each variation can be included within the variation subcategory. MollyMoxenFree (talk) 18:44, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
This article is done so well! I am genuinely impressed, and I cannot find much to say on how to improve. If you wanted to add any more information, you could add the danger, risk, and precautions that one may take. One question I asked while reading was, "I wonder what how dangerous this is and if injuries are common?" However, I think you have done such an amazing job, and in my opinion, would be difficult to edit further. The pictures are awesome! Kvvirginialee (talk) 15:51, 17 July 2020 (UTC)

Leashes and Safety
[edit]“ The use of a leash is always recommended in all paddling environments “ is incorrect and dangerous advice. Paddle U.K. require all whitewater courses to be conducted leash less and recommend whitewater paddlers do not use leashes. This is because of the entrapment hazard which has caused fatalities in moving water. https://paddleuk.org.uk/stand-up-paddleboard-sup-safety-choosing-the-right-leash/ 85.240.206.246 (talk) 17:46, 23 October 2024 (UTC)
