I wish in the interest of openness to state that I have received emails from someone claiming to be the subject of this article and making suggestions about the article. While I do not think this compromises me (as I believe I am independent enough not to follow any suggestion I disagreed with), and indeed I think it preferable to the subject editing the article himself, I want to be up-front and make this information open to all. --John (talk) 03:54, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit]

I am also the author of many articles (see list below). Has anyone an idea how this can be mentioned in the entry without overwhelming it? 80.192.19.49 09:51, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Council

[edit]

Mr Campbell has requested that we remove the reference to his membership of the local council. Does anyone object to my removal of it? It doesn't seem that crucial or relevant to the article so I removed it as I saw no harm in acceding to the subject's request. --John (talk) 03:24, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Seems fine – it's just a tidbit of information that doesn't have a major impact in the overall scheme of things. The only lingering qualm one may have is why he asked for it to be removed. In this case, I don't mind not knowing because this fact seems rather trivial, but others may request an explanation. All in all, the edit doesn't seem contentious and looks in line with policy. Mirages

[edit]

Campbell is most notable for his claim that many UFO reports can be explained by mirages [1]. I believe we should expand on this with references. I will see what I can find. HealthyGirl (talk) 00:27, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion

[edit]

This page should not be speedily deleted because I was the instigator of the 2006 AfD and the current iteration of the article would have been written from scratch, not recreated from the deleted article. I would be happier to see another AfD than to see this article speedily deleted on spurious grounds. --John (talk) 15:37, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
