On 19 December 2023, it was proposed that this article be moved to Trigger (animation studio). The result of the discussion was not moved. |
Why is the article name "Studio Trigger" if it's simply something they're "also known as?"
[edit]Additionally, the previous name was "Trigger (company)". Unlike Studio Deen, it's not in the company's name, and the artice acknowledges it as something "also known as." While there are companies that have a different trade name, this doesn't seem to be the case here. Gainax is also refered to as Studio Gainax on the internet, etc.160.177.42.72 (talk) 20:43, 5 August 2017 (UTC)
- It's a matter of common name. If you go through the sources, they mostly use the name "Studio Trigger", even the Kickstarter page uses that name. —Farix (t | c) 11:14, 6 August 2017 (UTC)

Studio Trigger → Trigger (animation studio) – Trigger is the right name, everybody knows. Here are some sources. Please look at them. It can't be moved to Trigger (studio), I don't know why, so Trigger (animation studio) is the right choice, like other Japanese animation studios names here on Wikipedia, such as Orange (animation studio).

- Oppose; WP:COMMONNAME says Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's "official" name as an article title; it generally prefers the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable, English-language sources) (emphasis mine). Of the sources you link above, the first is a retailer (not independent), the second and third are written in Japanese (not English-language) , and the fourth is to MyAnimeList, which is unreliable per WP:MYANIMELIST. Meanwhile, the name "Studio Trigger" has been widely used by Kotaku, Crunchyroll News, CBR, Screen Rant, Collider, Polygon, IGN, and Anime News Network articles within the past year or two ([1], [2]). All of those are independent and at least somewhat reliable English-language sources that use "Studio Trigger". I fail to see how this is not the WP:COMMONNAME. - Oppose, per Link20XX's comment. Xexerss (talk) 03:39, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose WP:NATURAL, as well as the WP:COMMONNAME. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 14:33, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose per Link20XX, note WP:OFFICIALNAMES which isn't to be used, instead we use WP:COMMONNAME. Additionally the existing title is a WP:NATURALDAB. This article cannot be manually moved to Trigger (studio) because it already exists as a redirect, but if you propose "Trigger (studio)" instead and this discussion moves to support, then the technical issue can be overidden and it moved to Trigger (studio) (not supporting such a move rn, but it can be overriden if there is support).
