What happened?

[edit]

It was looking good before..who changed it? Blueknightex (talk) 06:02, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Individual bios are required because a group like this does not warrant a entry for each member(like the Beatles page) Anybody interested in the group is interested in the members. Takarada (talk) 15:17, 18 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

there has been a lot of debate over members' pages mostly due to the mess at Girls' Generation. A user seems to have taken offense and has blanked members' sections on different girl band pages to make a point. I obviously don't agree with this, but at the same time, the section wasn't sourced and seemed to have trivia. Without reliable sources, the section shouldn't be added. Feel free to re-add it, though, if you can find some. SKS (talk) 01:11, 19 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Being a Leader and how it is part of a member's Position

[edit]

I was wondering..since T-ARA is now rotating leaders shouldn't we state under the "Position" section which years they were a leader as? Like for eg. EunJung "Leader(2009)" and Boram would be "Leader(2008)". Otherwise we shouldn't even put 'Leader' on it. Just Vocalist and Rapper. Otherwise, we should just let the readers find their own way on who's the leader on which single/album release on this article. Besides it was already stated at the top section that they change leaders. I'm sure that they can understand why in the Members section there would be no leader. Blueknightex (talk) 04:52, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Music videos?

[edit]

Is the music videos section really necessary? There's already a section in the discography page devoted to music videos. Other artists' articles don't even have it listed. Chikazuku (talk) 19:58, 23 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Edit request on 9 December 2011

[edit]

May I please edit T-Ara's member section, there is a mistake there. PellChilli (talk) 10:08, 9 December 2011 (UTC) THANK YOU. PELLCHILLI[reply]

Not done: please be more specific about what needs to be changed. Also, it looks like you should be WP:AUTOCONFIRMED and can edit the article yourself now. --Jnorton7558 (talk) 22:11, 9 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Positions in T-ara

[edit]

May I have a brief outline of the Members positions in the band...

This is what I know so far:

Boram - Vocalist, Main Dancer

Qri - Vocalist, Main Dancer

Soyeon - Leader, Main Vocalist, Lead Dancer and Spokesperson

Eunjung - Vocalist, Main Rapper

Hyomin - Lead Vocalist and Rapper

Hwayoung - Lead Rapper and Sub-Vocalist

Jiyeon - Lead Vocalist and Lead Dancer

Provide a brief explanation why they are that position too... I know what I know because I've listened to all of their songs...

Position problems

[edit]

This page is now being similar to Girls' Generation page where everyone just adds whatever the members' position they want. Please don't add the positions without a proper link to reference it. Penpaperpencil (Talk) 16:12, 10 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Television

[edit]

I think that the info on the members' individual television activities should be omitted? They already have their own articles where the information would be more useful. --Chikazuku (talk) 23:46, 7 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New member Dani pre-debut on the Timeline history?

[edit]

Is it ok if we can place Dani as pre-debut on the members timeline now? She is pretty much a new member of T-ARA already but she's not going to make her debut to the group yet. Masterpeace3 (talk) 00:39, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ok I just did it. Perhaps we could just add the red-line later on when she eventually debuts with them on December. Masterpeace3 (talk) 23:42, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Twitter Controversy

[edit]

Will there be a mention of the twitter controversy? Here's the AllKPop article on it - http://www.allkpop.com/2012/07/t-ara-members-tweets-following-budokan-concert-receives-some-criticism

The CEO of CCM has announced that there will be a major announcement on July 30, 2012 at 1 p.m. KST regarding the controversy and T-ARA. 24.142.37.169 (talk) 14:52, 29 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm surprised no one has added anything on it yet actually, but I guess that's a good thing. I'm pretty sure it'd lead to a plethora of edit wars due to opinion issues. HerroLink 02:21, 30 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm Noh Eun Ji. I already wrote a section under "Controversies" named "Hwayoung's contract termination and Twitter "bullying."" Please edit the section as needed and re-sentence as you want. I simply wrote the section based off of what has been confirmed and what the fans and netizens think (because Core Contents Media and Kim Kwang Soo honestly give very poor explanations that are either lies or simply don't add up)... Thank you~! :) Bakcholong (talk) 00:06, 31 July 2012 (UTC)bakcholong[reply]

GA Review

  1. Citations: A lot of the article is lacking citations. Every ref should be cited no bare urls.
  2. Of the citations that are present, checklinks is showing that about 4 or so are dead. I'm skeptical of the reliability of some of the others, a couple links are to wordpress blogs, which are probably not reliable.
  3. Another major issue is the prose quality. It looks like it will need a lot of copyediting to reach GA quality. Also, one, two, three sentence paragraphs really break the flow, these should be organized into larger paragraphs.
  4. Fix disambiguation 1
  5. Dead refs need replacing 1
  • The article has entire phrases without citations, several prose issues, etc. I would consider a quick fail in order for this article, so you can close it now if you wish. Also, you can point out several issues to provide a guidance to the nominator on how to improve the article. Regards. —Hahc21 04:12, 9 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hwayoung coverage

[edit]

Hi, I noticed that a lot of the stuff I added to the controversy section was removed, with "highly opinionated" being given as a reason. However, a lot of the stuff left behind is also highly opinionated, and paints T-ARA as being 100% guilty.

Here's what I had added:

"On August 28, 2012, Hwayoung herself tweeted about the issue, saying that "It is true that there were confrontations due to differences in opinions with the T-ara members while I was promoting as part of T-ara. However, with the stories about bullying going around and the situation growing worse, my heart was in pain. Both sides have also been really upset and hurt by the distorted facts [that have come out]. However, there were times when I was happy while we were all under one roof, so I want to forget about the past and want us to cheer each other on with smiles on our faces. You all showed so much love, care, and attention to T-ara, so I’m very sorry for having caused concern and worry through this incident to everyone." [88]

Some netizens have been heavily criticized for their reaction to the issue, including sending death threats to T-ARA, tweeting the members of T-ARA images of smashed T-ARA CDs, and egging the CCM building. During one of Soyeon's interviews, she said that she and the other members had been afraid to leave the house because of these threats. A group called "T-Jinyo" was formed to "demand the truth from T-ARA", but this quickly fizzled out - although there was a strong online presence, almost no-one showed up to a rally. [89] Other netizens stepped forwards to defend T-ARA, revealing that the "evidence video" put forwards by netizens as "proof" of the bullying was actually variety show clips that were taken out of context and manipulated to put the T-ARA members in a negative light. So far, over seventeen accusations of bullying have been proven false. Some online news agencies have come under fire for using inflammatory wording in their article titles about T-ARA, thus spreading more misconceptions and causing more trouble (for example, AllKPop changed the title of an article from "T-ara’s Boram ruined Hwayoung’s umbrella?" to "T-ara’s Boram destroys Hwayoung’s umbrella?"). [90][91] Ironically, AllKPop would later go on to post an editorial about the "witch hunt" against T-ARA. [92]"

I agree that this probably isn't written that well, but the article as it is now leaves out a lot of important information - namely the fact that Hwayoung herself said there was no bullying, and that several incidents that were claimed as bullying were revealed to have been provoked by sites like AllKPop, and a video containing "evidence" of bullying has been proven to be 98% false. Also, if "AllKPop is not a reliable source", then why are there still five (at least) instances of things being sourced to AKP? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.142.37.169 (talk) 23:11, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Member Charts

[edit]

How is having a chart of the members in the band, with their names, birthnames, and birthdays, turning Wikipedia into a fansite? It is not like T-ara's birthdays or names are not confirmed. It says it on their websites. It is basic information that people are interested in when they look up a group. If they want to know more about a specifc member(s) than they will go to their article. Also, T-ara's leader timeline is important because they don't have a permanent leader (they change) and member timelines are good for groups who have had members come and go.

But I don't understand why these chart bans are being contained to T-ara and some of Core Contents Media other groups' articles. Groups like Girls' Generation, 2NE1, Big Bang, Sistar, Block B, and not to mention many more that probably can be found on this list.

Most band articles have some information on their members, even if the member has their own page. It is basic information and also a formatting style on Wikipedia. Charts are in almost every Korean Idol group page. Why is this page the one that is coming under fire for having it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Niwipe36 (talkcontribs) 21:21, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

T-ara comeback?

[edit]

T-ara to release "T-ara's Effect" album! - Daily K Pop News

T-ara to have their comeback on midyear... with a new album 'T-ara's Effect'... using the dubstep concept... Dani will... officially have her debut as a member of T-ara.Tree 06:24, 11 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

That turned out to be a false rumor that originated on Baidu. Nothing is confirmed by Core Contents Media. Chikazuku (talk) 21:00, 11 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I see, thank you Tree 00:17, 12 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Associated acts

[edit]

Is T-ara really associated with Supernova, SeeYa, Davichi, Coed School, Gangkiz, Speed, and F-ve Dolls?

Here is the official guideline (from Template:Infobox musical artist):

This field is for professional relationships with other musicians or bands that are significant and notable to this artist's career.

This field can include, for example, any of the following:

  • For individuals: groups of which he or she has been a member
  • Other acts with which this act has collaborated on multiple occasions, or on an album, or toured with as a single collaboration act playing together
  • Groups which have spun off from this group
  • A group from which this group has spun off

The following uses of this field should be avoided:

  • Association of groups with members' solo careers
  • Groups with only one member in common
  • Association of producers, managers, etc. (who are themselves acts) with other acts (unless the act essentially belongs to the producer, as in the case of a studio orchestra formed by and working exclusively with a producer)
  • One-time collaboration for a single, or on a single song
  • Groups that are merely similar

Proposed merge with Ryu Hwayoung

[edit]

Hwayoung is clearly not independently notable, but I think some of the information regarding the bullying controversy should be merged to T-ara. Currently, the controversy is mentioned, but not explained. Random86 (talk) 01:45, 12 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal

[edit]

I propose merging Kaze no Yō ni to this article's QBS section. The song article says almost nothing and the info would be served just as well here as in a stand-alone article. Most songs fail Wikipedia's notability requirements as set out in WP:GNG and WP:NSONG, and most song articles should be merged to larger works such as album or artist articles, per WP:SONGS. Please share your thoughts. Shinyang-i (talk) 05:45, 9 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Support. There probably isn't much more to say about this song. Random86 (talk) 02:46, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I've completed the merge. The info is in the QBS section. Shinyang-i (talk) 03:10, 15 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hwayoung Scandal 2.0 - Is it really needed on this article?

[edit]

Hello,

Unless T-ara's Recurrence of the bullying scandal is extremely widespread and very specific, would just a sentence to sum up the scandal be sufficient enough, instead of writing a whole 3-paragraph section about it? The way it's worded seems to be against Hyoyoung and Hwayoung. What do you think?

Tibbydibby (talk) 05:22, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, the section is WAY too detailed (and POV), and it looks like it has been google translated or even partly copy/pasted from the source, I removed it completely, it can be re-written in a couple of sentences if needed. Snowflake91 (talk) 20:22, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
