Grammar? Early history?
[edit]The writing in this article needs to be cleaned up. The writer can't seem to grasp the difference between "were" and "where". Also the first sentence in the third paragraph in the History section makes no sense. Is "player-managers" supposed to be possessive? Why is the player-manager unnamed? Who is Motty?
The club's early history needs to be filled in. The club was founded in 1933, but apparently nothing significant happened until 1989, as that is where the History section begins.

Oh well Done.
Apostrophe added
Motty identified
typo in were (where)corrected
History - don't know, perhaps you might make a practical contribution as that is what Wikipedia is for!
Your point "The writer can't seem to grasp the difference between "were" and "where"." comes across as self-important and gratuitously pedantic. Do try to be helpful - not hurtful.

- I was going to suggest that some history 1933-1989 was added, but it seems that Michael has already done so. slυмgυм [ ←→ ] 18:43, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
"traditional"
[edit]"Their ground is also one of the last few “traditional” non league grounds at this level of football."
Could someone please explain what is meant by "traditional" ? (ie: crappy?)

Disputes around style and notability of players
[edit]There seem to be two disputes going on at the moment. One relates to the style applied to the Current squad section, and the other applies to the Notable players section.
- Current squad - The article has been edited by Mattythewhite so that it conforms to the Manual of Style (MoS) for football club articles - please see Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Clubs. Any change to a Wikipedia MoS should be discussed first, not unilaterally applied to a single article. At least, please discuss here.
- Notable players - I've removed a number of redlinked notable players, as there is no assertion of notability, and in fact a number of the players who do have articles can probably be removed from this section as the criterion listed in the MoS is "Noted players of the club, who have had a major impact on the club's history. The section should use external sources for the list, not the personal opinions of editors.". The current list of notable players on this article still doesn't conform, and should continue to be edited until external sources have defined the list of notable players. I'll let someone else do that, as I don't have the required knowledge.
Please can we discuss here, rather than trade insults or edit war? robwingfield «T•C» 11:20, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
History of Tamworth F.C.
[edit]I'm not sure who is trying to merge the page History of Tamworth F.C. with Tamworth F.C., but all I can assume that the person is new to Wikipedia. The article History of Tamworth F.C. was started in Tamworth F.C. before, but was too big for the original article. Can we please get this merge tag removed from the respective pages, otherwise I'll remove it myself. Jonesy702 14:16, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- All we can assume is good faith. At present the content of the main article and the history article are fairly similar, so a merge is not an outlandish idea. Certainly when compared to the History sections of York City F.C. or Leek Town F.C. (both featured articles) the history section here does not look too big to be contained in a single article. It does, however, have an unhealthy weighting towards the present day. Oldelpaso 14:48, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- I'd be in favour of a merge, as Oldelpaso correctly points out, there is a significant overlap in the content of the two articles. Unless the history article can be substantially expanded (to contain a lot more pre-1989 info) I see little value in it continuing to exist seperate of the main article. Simon KHFC 17:02, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- I added the merge tag as the History of Tamworth F.C. page is very similar to the History section for Tamworth F.C. and so I saw little point in there being a separate page. Unfortunately, this led to some abusive comments on my talk page. Additionally, I see that the "expand" and "recentism" tags have been removed from the History section without the problems actually being addressed. Dancarney 11:15, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

ANYONE REMEMBER RON SIMS, EX PLAYER, CAPTAIN AND COACH? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.36.174.96 (talk) 13:25, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
- I’m here as I’m cleaning up obsolete information tags. History of Tamworth F.C. hasn’t had a substantial edit since 2013 so is now looking badly out of date. Can I please suggest that either the pages are once again nominated for merger, or that we define a timeframe for the “history” and then more recent history is kept on this page? The Lamb Ground
[edit]There is some confusion over the year of construction of the Main Stand. The article originally stated that the stand was built in 1996, but I revised it to show the correct date of 1997. On October 28 2007 this was revised back to 1996 with a reference to the club's own official website, which does indeed state that the stand was built in 1996, but the club's site has got this wrong. The stand was very definitely built in the summer of 1997 because it was constructed after the end of the 1996/7 season when Tamworth had won the championship of the Southern League Midland Division (Check out the club's history on the official website) and needed to upgrade the ground to be promoted to the Premier Division. I am emailing the club to tell them about this error on their site and I am revising the date back to 1997 because, believe me, this IS the correct date. You may need to include their Southern League Premier Central title from the 2022/23 season! From an historical perspective as it is a title. 77.226.251.203 (talk) 15:02, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
- Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. — Paper9oll (🔔 • 📝) 15:54, 2 June 2023 (UTC)
