Temari and Shikamaru[edit]

It seems like most of the edits on Temari's page have to do with a potential romantic relationship with Shikamaru Nara. Should a line be added or are the shippers and canon people just going to keep going in a big edit circle? I don't care either way, but it seems like the page changes every day. Maybe a compromise to make all sides happy? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lipper (talkcontribs) 01:35, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

The relationship has no canon status, and hardly any solid evidence to support it. The shippers of the pair are simply stubborn, and seem to be hell-bent on shoving it down other fans' throats, which always ends up offending the countless others who still believe Shikamaru will either end up with Yamanaka Ino, or remain single for the entire run of the series. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 21:34, 16 June 2006 (talkcontribs) 70.186.70.138.
How did this pairing spawn anyway? The Wretched 09:21, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I added this to the Trivia section...:

There is a surprisingly large and persistant amount of fans that support a Temari-Shikamaru relationship. The basis for these claims are very minor instances (Temari telling Shikamaru that she'd help him again anytime after the Sasuke Retrieval Arc, Naruto asking if they're on a date in Part II, ect.). However, there is currently no canonical pairing between the two, and these very minor instances are by no means plausible evidence of one happening in the future.

...with the hope that these Temari-Shikamaru fanatics will be satisfied. Is this good enough for Trivia Material? The Wretched 09:32, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Eh, it seems more anti-ShikaTem than anything else now. I think it's going too far in the other direction. IMO, we should just avoid any mention of ships in the article.Veil of Shadows 15:13, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that is sounds more anti-Shikamaru/Temari than anything. I also disagree that the pairing is based on just those two instances. There is more to it. They do have some canon behind them and might be one of the few boy/girl relationships allowed to blossom in this shōnen manga. But until Kishimoto makes them acknowledge a relationship, it's all just speculation. It looks like your edit was removed anyway. -- Dasherman 05:00, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, but I wasn't gonna put all the reasons in there. Too long. Note the 'ect.' And I'm not necessarily saying that a pairing is impossible. I mean, I've seen a very slight, but hinting incedent in Part II, when Naruto first meets up with them. Temari kinda trails off when denying a date. However, I meant to say that these hints aren't really very much hard proof of any connection yet. But you know... Masashi doesn't usually add something unless there's some meaning behind it. Unless it's for comedy purposes... I'm contradicting myself, aren't I? The Wretched 18:44, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. on several random websites (spoiler) Ther was 1 piture of them about to mkiss and Ino was using it as balck mail. also on the character bio of his Of shinos mom it says she trying to get her sun to date Temari. I couldn't care thought i just like to argue —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.129.87.239 (talkcontribs) 01:03, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

I am going to try to translate this.
"On several random websites, there was a picture of Shikamaru and Temari about to kiss and Ino was using it as blackmail. Also on a character bio of Shikamaru's, his mom is stated as trying to get her son to date Temari."
That picture was probably made by a fangirl. Sort of like the one with Kakashi unmasked. Second, Shika's mom hasn't even met Temari in canon. So how on earth do we know she is trying to hook them up? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.80.145.64 (talkcontribs) 02:24, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

You finished the series? Hum Th epiture was definetly not a funsub thought. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.129.87.239 (talkcontribs) 06:58, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

I haven't seen this pic so I don't know. Maybe it was from some promotional material? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.80.145.64 (talkcontribs) 17:03, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Nani? All this talk about Temari and Shikamaru, i dont think (hope) that they'll end up together. I hope Ino is the woman for Shikamaru (; You know, from Fruits Basket, everyone (well well, not everyone) thought that Tohru and Yuki would end up as a couple, but they didn't. I hope that it is Temari (Yuki) Shikamaru (Tohru) and Ino (Kyou) XD / (: Go Ino

While it should be noted that Temari and Shikamaru have been seen together in Part II, and she has helped him in battle, I think dubbing a romantic relationship between them (though it is slightly indicated) would turn this more into a fanon article rather than a general information article. I think it is fine the way it is. LOLZ SHIPPERZ.

We could just say "Fan's have said that Temari and Shikamaru have a crush on each other" or something like that. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.36.182.232 (talk) 21:12, 23 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]
But if you put something about them liking eachother in there, then some of the ShikaIno fans would prabably just throw a fit and start whining. Don't get me wrong, I love the ShikaIno pairing and I understand where people are getting the ShikaTema pairing, but this kind of stuff dosen't belong on wikipedia anyways.

I wouldn't say this temari and shikamaru are irrelevant. In fact, on youtube you can find many fan videos of them. As in many I mean 1,332 videos though this is just a asumtion by fans that they like each other. But Shikamaru often is fighting, being saved by or saving Temari himself. But please don't put this in a real article cause its well... not wikipedia worthy (just a fan hunch) Blackcat1313 00:09, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think we should stop altogther arguing about this forumish stuff. The article should remain as factual as in any encyclopedia and coming up with pairings is not something for Wikipedia. I mean, rabid supporters of any pairing have forums where they can fight about this. So the article is quite good enough the way it is, let's just keep it this way until we have any futher info. Mansemat 18:07, 5 March 2007 (GMT +1)

!! but there are still scenes in the anime and manga that everyone is taking out because they think its not true. like in the anime (naruto shippuuden episode 007) shikamaru DOES escort temari out of konoha..why did you people take that out??..its true!! and the chapter where shikamaru and temari are first revealed after the time skip..it did happen, and well..its something that should be placed in. yes i do disagree with people typing in "shikamaru likes temari!"..because he never said he did. but he did escort her out of konoha, and he was seen with her after the time skip..so cant we atleast have those in the article?? my goodness. [ ALSO ] that picture of shikamaru and temari "kissing" and ino "black mailing" them .. yeah i saw it too .. and its just made by a fan girl, okay? okay. check deviantart people and search for that picture .. the artist of that picture is there. also the series isnt even over yet so everybody jus chill. Kishimoto has not actually made any couples in the anime yet except for kurenai and asuma .. kay i think im done =) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.248.96.147 (talk)

It's not that it isn't true, it's that it isn't important. That a character walks with another character is of no great significance, or else articles would be a good deal longer than they already are. ~SnapperTo 20:53, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree. They want you to believe something is going on or they wouldn't have added that scene with her departing Konoha. It was more than just walking. It was character development for a relationship. Temari is not that interesting of a character so I am not sure how adding a few lines about it would would make her page longer. Poor excuse. Her relationship with her brother and Shikamaru are her only real ties to the story anyway. Otherwise she would be no different than Tenten. 61.18.170.13 06:39, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Shikamaru and Temari walking together is just the author teasing you with Shikamaru's bossy woman troubles. Same with that last filler arc. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 06:51, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
They added that scene because they needed Temari to be available for escorting Team 7 to Sunagakure and to establish that Naruto is the only Genin left. The closest thing to building a relationship is Naruto's asking if they're on a date, which both dismiss with fairly acceptable responses. How the anime chooses to make that scene last half an hour is its own business, but there is no ulterior motive present. ~SnapperTo 06:56, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That anime... how they managed to stretch seven chapters over seven episodes I'll never know. *mutters many obscenities for the lack of progress* Back on topic, even if there are many other ways the scene could have been written, one must remember how the author writes these things. Chunin Exam: Fights bossy woman. Sasuke Retrieval: Saved by bossy woman. Filler arc: Saves bossy woman. Part II begins: Escorts bossy woman. At the most you can say the author is continuing a pattern because it's funny. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 07:04, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Is it even seven chapters yet? The most recent of episode summaries suggests they're only half way through 250, or 5.5 chapters into Part II. That's about 79% of a chapter per episode thus far. Wasn't there a point in time where they managed 150% of a chapter per episode, maybe even 200%? 84 episodes of buying time wasn't good enough I guess. I ramble though. ~SnapperTo 07:19, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think they've managed to cover just one chapter in an episode, much less more than one. I'm holding out hope that this last two-parter picks up the pace slightly. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 07:25, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that this has no real signififcance except for how shikamaru and temari get intertwined in quite a lot archs like Someguy0830 said. It's what the fans are making up while the amine goes along. Is the amine really monving this slowly?Blackcat1313 01:35, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
With the most recent episode, it is actually somewhat noteworthy the the anime actually had to say "no, people, they're not an item" (paraphrased). — Someguy0830 (T | C) 02:23, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well i guess that sidenote is actually the first time they had actually acknowlegded this huge hunch in the anime, but i hope this keeps the Shikamaru+Temari fans satisfied.Blackcat1313 20:53, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Look on that page when Kurenai and Asuma are walking together. Then look at the one of Temari and Shikamaru walking together. You can see that they have the same poses. Feet, hands, and the hands in the pockets. Then notice how Kakashi points out the relationship between Asuma and Kurenai then see how Naruto did the same thing only different wording. This is obviously Masashi Kishimoto's way of pointing out couples.24.176.117.242 20:58, 5 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image[edit]

May someone please help fix that image of Temari cuz I cannot Arhugefan 01:06, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I replaced it. It's better to use a version where you can see the character's eyes. It keeps us from having to explain eye color. – Someguy0830 (T | C) 01:10, 10 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ships Ahoy[edit]

Contrary to what some may want to believe, this image is decorative, a no no according to policy. To put it simply, Temari standing next to Shikamaru is not helpful in any way, shape, or form, and as such has no reason to be in the article. If somebody disagrees with this notion, particularly User: Dasherman, I'd like to hear why, as I can't imagine there being a good reason other than "it's been in the article for a long time". If somebody feels that there absolutely needs to be an image in the Sasuke Retrieval arc section, an image of Temari summoning Kamatari or the destruction of the surrounding forest would be much better in place of the current image, as one of the two would actually be useful to a degree. ~SnapperTo 20:10, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As much as I adore Shikamaru x Temari, you do have a point. I'll try and get another picture. Of Temari killing the forest or something. Raven23 23:24, 13 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There's already an image of Temari summoning Kamatari on the Kamatari entry. So using a picture of that would be redundant. Her whole purpose in that arc was to save Shikamaru and the picture reflects this. It has nothing to do with a fandom relationship. I am all for removing "shipping" from pages, but this is the other extreme. I am curious what brought this about. The picture has been there for a long time without complaints. You have edited that page numerous times and never bothered with that pic before.
I believe it might be best to ask Someguy0830 his opinion. If there was any problem with this pic, him or Geg would have probably removed it a long time ago.Dasherman 02:57, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Simply because I don't care doesn't mean I don't agree. Kamatari summoning is a much more useful pic. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 03:09, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I typically pay more attention to what's added to an article than I do to what's already in it, especially when it comes to characters that aren't overly central to the plot. So, someone added an image to the article, I scrolled down to see what it was, and found it as well as the image in question to be unhelpful, and hence removed both. That's all there is to it. ~SnapperTo 03:35, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adding the episode/chapter of pt II.[edit]

On the character profile it shows what chapter and episode of Naruto pt1 when she shows up. Should we add the chapter/episode for pt II under it? XaXfoolsXgameXFeb. 21, 2007

No. First appearance only. — Someguy0830 (T | C) 06:30, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Temari like Shikamaru’s mother?[edit]

Every bio I read about Temari mentions her being similar to Shikamaru’s mother Yoshino. Shikamaru even called her scarier than his mom. A tough girl with a soft side to the people she loves. Wouldn’t this be relevant to add to her article since it gives a better idea of what type of character the manga’s creator is going for with Temari? 70.173.112.35 08:17, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Temari is going to be better known than Yoshino. Therefore, if anything, it would make sense to put the comparison on Yoshino's page. Most fans of Naruto are going to know exactly what Temari is like.Retlor 15:06, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The comparison should maybe be on Temari's page too, it is significant to the plot, and would better be noticed on Temari's bio page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.108.186.2 (talk) 15:40, 12 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]
I disagree, the comparison is redundant in my opinion. It wouldn't really add anything to the article. In the end, though, if no-one has objections, I don't really mind.Retlor 06:02, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think that it should be noted that the comparison was ever made. while it may not add much
it would help to tell alitle more to people who are just new to the serise.--Had24get2ice 19:58, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To me, Temari's not like Yoshino. It's just in your opinion that she is. So, don't put it on wikipedia. NazaliaSan 16:15, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is this important enough to note?[edit]

A recent poll on a popular Japanese website had Temari and Shikamaru as the most likely couple to happen in Naruto. They finished way ahead of Naruto with Sakura. Shikamaru with Ino finished 9th. This was done July 6th.

What website?24.176.117.242 17:33, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
