Explain/Expand A&M
[edit]I think most visitors to this page who are not familiar with the American education system would want to know what A&M stands for. Tried the web and I could not find it. If it has no expansion it would be a good idea to mention that. Its been very frustrating for me. Agnel Kurian 06:08, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
- It has nothing to do with the American education system; I'm American and I don't know what it stands for either. -67.163.21.39 23:29, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
- A&M used to stand for Agricultural and Mechanical. In the case of Texas A&M, the A&M no longer stands for anything. Mishatx 17:23, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- That should really be in the article - it is a legacy mark if not a functional one. -- Ghostreveries 08:49, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- It's covered in the Texas A&M University article, which is the only university of the A&M System that was once called Agricultural and Mechanical. -- Hut101 06:43, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
I totally agree, I was searching for what this meant as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.190.134.60 (talk) 15:09, 28 October 2014 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Tamu-system-logo.png
[edit]Image:Tamu-system-logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:24, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Page Rename
[edit]Should the page be renamed to Texas A&M System? They are dropping University from their name, I believe (part of the fun renaming stuff of late). AnmaFinotera (talk) 21:45, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
System Map
[edit]I am not very good with photoshop, so that blurry map of the A&M system is my best shot. If anyone wants to clean it up or make a new one please do so. Pirates010 (talk) 13:31, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
System image problem
[edit]Did an Aggie do that graphic wherein Galveston is misspelled? Are y'all trying to give us 'sips ammo? Maybe someone should go back and retake ENGL 104. I'm not fixing it but I thought someone would want to know. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Es330td (talk • contribs) 21:13, 27 August 2008 (UTC)
Seal
[edit]The image of the seal needs to be updated to the latest version. Can someone make this update? Law School?
[edit]There is no mention of the law school. I'm not sure if it fits under the main university or if it's its own thing, so I'm not going to interject, but it should be mentioned either here or under the system page, I would think. 128.146.149.117 (talk) 18:35, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
A&M
[edit]Why the fuck....
....can't I find any explanation of the meaning of "A&M" in this article? Let me guess: The Information does not belong here, I have to switch over to that other article, knowledge of which is of course part of our genetic makeup.
Please explain to me: What is the reason that Wikipedia exists? 217.248.26.93 (talk) 18:36, 19 August 2017 (UTC)
- Four years later and still no explanation of "A&M"??? --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 17:56, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- So I have added
The letters "A&M", originally A.M.C. and short for "Agricultural and Mechanical College", are retained as a tribute to the university's former designation.
Now that didn't take a big effort, did it? --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 18:02, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
