[edit]I arrived on this page after being redirected from "Texas State Board of Education," which is a separate entity that operates independently of TEA. Ann Weaver Hart (talk) 01:40, 30 March 2009 (UTC)Ann Weaver Hart
This article appears to be nothing more than an attack on the Texas Education Agency. (0610 25 July 2005) BlueKangaroo
Attack?
[edit]In what way is this article an attack on TEA? The article seems fairly neutral to me, although incomplete. When I worked for TEA in the 80's, one of its main duties was to manage the trust funds that pay the base costs of secondary and post secondary education in the state.
- It used to be an attack, but the offending portions were removed. WhisperToMe 01:21, 15 June 2006 (UTC)
List of counties, districts
[edit]I like the idea of having the information available, but I'm worried that a truly complete list would dominate the article. It may be a good idea to find a source for the whole list and either link to it or create the list as a separate article. --Hebisddave (talk) 15:28, 19 November 2007 (UTC)
- What I did was to link to each ESC website and list the counties it serves. The only districts shown in the article are those which are served by a different ESC than others in the same county (Canton and Wills Point in Van Zandt and High Island in Galveston). Vietnamese name
[edit]The name of the agency in Vietnamese is Cơ Quan Giáo Dục Texas seen here WhisperToMe (talk) 17:59, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Election process
[edit]Did I mistakenly hear that some part of the election or appointment process required confirmation from state senators? -- Beland (talk) 06:03, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
- The SBOE chair is nominated by the governor and must be confirmed by the legislature. The legislative session recently ended without confirming the governor's appointment (for the second time). ArtifexMayhem (talk) 17:40, 8 June 2011 (UTC)

Budget and Enrollment
[edit]I added a section on Budget and Enrollment; the aim is to provide at a glance demographic and fiscal data for the agency and the system over time. I found a good source for enrollment nummbers (a TEA report from 2018), but have not been able to find budget information for anything before 2014. Anyone have a good lead on this data, as I think it would be very useful to show the per student funding figures by year for a long period of time. Sahrin (talk) 19:09, 27 December 2019 (UTC)
Curriculum controversies
[edit]It appears that the last paragraph in this section is just a list of faults solely based on opinion and hearsay. There is no reference for any of the points. Using words like "...would downplay..." and "...would include a greater emphasis..." show a completely subjective view relative only to the author and those holding a similar opinion. The paragraph should show objective points to be substantiated. Moreover, these point should not just come down to more words on one side and less words on the other, but more and less actual knowledge and why it is bad to change.ErikkFriberg (talk) 12:59, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
