Kawhi Leonard 2019

[edit]

[1] [2] [3] I didn't put these on the DAB page because it would seem awkward and there really isn't a place to put them on the target article. Note that two are from the one-year anniversary so I suspect that the reference the the 2019 example will gain traction, in turn providing more RS. Mapsax (talk) 20:25, 13 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"The Shot" by Leonard is nothing more than a WP:RECENTISM. There is even no page about the game like Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals. You should not have reinstated it and started a discussion in the first place per WP:BRD. Your edit has been reverted once again and do not think about reinstating it until this has been discussed. I have also notified WP:NBA about this discussion. – Sabbatino (talk) 08:33, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The reversion was more about the labeling of original research, which it wasn't. I'm OK with discussing the merits of it being included, hence my original comment here, which I consider the "D" in BRD in this case. However, while it's more recent than 1989, it's not that recent, there's been time to digest it, which is why two of the three RS that I provided were published one year after. I also made an effort to find diverse sources to avoid ones which were just copying each other or only had regional bias. Also, DAB pages allow for topics which do not have dedicated articles. The shot not only is mentioned in the synopsis under the box for the Eastern Semis, but also contains details of why it is notable, it's just not identified as such, "The Shot". Again, as I mentioned initially, I couldn't see how the sources that I provided would fit neatly into that synopsis, which is why I was soliciting help so that another editor or editors could incorporate them. Bottom line is that multiple and diverse RS are referring to it as "The Shot", so WP should as well. Mapsax (talk) 23:14, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'd give it more time to develop. Coverage during COVID-19 should be tempered by fact that media has no live sports to cover.—Bagumba (talk) 09:08, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
