[edit]This is a very dissapointing entry... I notice that a lot of classic supernatural fiction of the ealy 20thC and late 19thC in Wikipedia is rated according to the amount that it influenced HP Lovecraft. There is a LOT more to Machen's Three Imposters than the fact that it may have had some small influence on another writer. When I have time I will have to try my hand at writing a proper entry for the novel. Or at least something better for it that what is currently there. OzoneO 11:07, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
What word?
[edit]"Publisher John Lane, wary of the atmosphere following the trial of Oscar Wilde, asked Machen to censor his manuscript. Barring the omission of one word, Machen refused to do this."
I'm surely not the only one in suspense. Anybody with access to the source care to shed some light? Elmo iscariot (talk) 13:05, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Synopsis Guidelines
[edit]I have read this piece and I was thinking of expanding the synopsis to be a bit more thorough. Since what is on here doesn't really give much information. I was wondering how much information would be appropriate to include to do this however as I know that many articles have been flagged for having too much detail on them about the synopsis, and not much else.
For reference, because this is an episodic story, I was thinking of giving a brief description of each of the stories that make up the novella, about a paragraph in length. Is that appropriate? Or is there another approach which would be better suited? Any and all feedback is welcome. 2601:1C0:5501:4871:E0F5:EB2D:A732:9A2 (talk) 01:24, 28 September 2021 (UTC)
Contents section
[edit]I have slightly edited the Contents section, based on the following considerations: 1) Machen did not number the chapters, 2) on the Contents page Machen indicated, by means of indentations, that some parts of the book are embedded ('framed narratives'). In the book, these embedded sections do not start on a new page. GdB (talk) 23:36, 29 August 2024 (UTC)
- I've changed your formatting of the indentations, since I don't think the hyphens you used would be understood by readers. Deor (talk) 03:33, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
