Is this plagiarized?

[edit]

The language here reads very oddly stilted and formal, as if it was plagiarized from a book written 100 years ago. I don't have time to tackle right now but flagging for future...Rkaufman13 (talk) 18:36, 27 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Place of birth

[edit]

To say “Crawford was born in New York City” is a potential anachronism, considering what we now call the four Outer Boroughs wouldn’t be consolidated into the City of Greater New York for several more decades after he died. When he was laid to rest in Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn was still its own city.

That being said, for the sake of accuracy, can someone verify precisely which part of modern New York City he was born in? If it wasn’t in Manhattan, then his bio needs rectifying. Thanks. KirkCliff2 (talk) 18:50, 6 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
