Without question, it is a very bad idea to merge these two articles, since they refer to two different sites, with two different coordinates. The only thing similar to them is that they bear the same name --- similar as it were to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and Bethlehem, Israel. Just as it would not be right to merge these two articles, so is it not right to merge the two articles named "Timnah."
