This article needs to be cleaned up!!
[edit]I think this article needs a major clean up, it is full of unsourced statements ect. Some ideas I have to improve it:
- Pictures-First of all, the picture of the Sydney Opera House is always used in article about Sydney Tourism, maybe if someone could find a picture with lot's of tourists in Sydney areas or landmarks.
- Information-Most of the information has unsourced statements, also it is written to well.
That's all I can think of for now, but if anyone else has any other suggestions do add them on this page. Jackp 06:01, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
- You are too funny Jack. I've have tidied up bits and peices of your work, yet you only reinstate it. --Merbabu 06:07, 29 June 2006 (UTC)
Not in this article, I've left every edit made too it. I [finally] understand Sydney is up to an excellent standard. But this article just needs a tidy up. Jackp 08:01, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- Jack, it is clear from this last comment that you do not use the history tab. I suggest you look up, click "article" then click "history". --Merbabu 08:09, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- UPDATED, now cleaned up as requested. There is not much in this article that wasn't POV tourist brochure fluff. --Merbabu 08:17, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
Expansion tag
[edit]I added the 'expand' tag because the amount of information is fairly scarce. Maybe if more information on shopping districts, cafes, malls and so on can be added, and some more descriptive pictures of tourism in the city (such as tourists around a popular city attraction), than the Sydney Opera House, because it is very obvious that the Opera House is a hot spot for tourism.
- Hi Jackp. Tag removed as are all your efforts. --Merbabu 12:05, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
Hunter Valley
[edit]How can the Hunter Valley be included an article for Tourism in Sydney??? The Hunter Valley is hundreds of kilometers away. Next we'll have Uluru!
I'm removing the entire section - I will dump it on a user sub-page pending Tourism in Newcastle, Australia. Garrie 21:57, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- The text (and pic) is now at User:GarrieIrons/Tourism in the Hunter Valley. Really, it needs it's own article, Tourism in the Hunter Valley or Tourism in Newcastle, Australia.Garrie 22:03, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- Note, nothing in the section wasn't already said at Hunter Valley.Garrie 22:03, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Beaches
[edit]I think having seperate sections for Bondi, Manly and Cronulla beaches is going overboard, particularly when the latter two aren't even significant tourist destinations. I think they need to be consolidated into a section titled "Beaches in Sydney." This will also help reduce article size, which is becoming a tad too large. Recurring dreams 09:47, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
- Manly is significant, lots of oversees tourist go ther especially backpackers. Cronulla maybe not so, but I don't think there is any harm in trying to promote it becuase it is a nice place. (Wonder-Contributor)(<S>)
- I'm for including Manly as many tourists do the ferry trip. but including Cronulla just to promote it is a violation of WP:ADVERT Michellecrisp 12:56, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
- I don't actually mean it that way, its more like info for oversees visitors and for people who may want to see something thats kind off the beaten track, you know something different. i also think its worth a mention. (Wonder-Contributor)(<S>)
- I dont think this article is a tad to big, look at the article Tourism in India I don't think anyone is complaining about that article and it continues to grow, becuase unlike the tourism is Sydney article, tourism in India has lots of contributors. When I come up with more ideas I will keep adding to this article appropriatly, even if it has to double in size, I am putting this out there for all (Wonder-Contributor)(<S>)
- The Tourism in India has in fact been tagged for being too long. This page is definitely heading in that direction. I think the key issue here is whether undue attention is being paid to seperate beaches: if we had comparable sections for Coogee, Maroubra, La Perouse, Clovelly, .... beaches, as well as equivalent sections for each other landmark (every museum, every major shopping precinct, ..........), then this article would be massive. Each beach should be consolidated into one section.Recurring dreams 08:46, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

- I may want to add Palm beach to this article, becuase I know for a fact that a lot of the British tourist that I see want to go out there to see were Home and Away is shot, I may even mention this in the section. Anyway I will look into it (Wonder-Contributor)(<S>)
- Give us a chance to fix the formatt a bit, I know its not quite wright at the moment, but I will fix it (Wonder-Contributor)(<S>)
- When I get a chance I will reduce the amount of text for each beach, maybe dedicate a few senteces for each one, mainly Bondi, Manly, Coogee, Bronte, Cronulla and Palm Beach. Or I could simply have a see also list instead. But I would like to keep the images. It might be a good idea to mention the Bondi to coogee walk and also the Manly Wharf to Spit Bridge. [edit]Please do no take my comments as any sort of criticism of your fantastic work. However such a large amount of text will inevitably be noticed and deleted by other editors. Also, pictures tend to make the size of the page larger than text, and having several pictures for each beach is I think excessive. Maybe one for each beach, in a section titled "Beaches in Sydney." Recurring dreams 13:31, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
- I have to admitt, I have been a bitt OCD with the images for the Sydney beaches section. I have currently reduced the amount of text for each beach and added an intro section that I retreived from another article, when I get a chance I will reformat the entire section with less images, maybe the best one for each beach. Also with the images, well I am just trying to make Sydney look like a nice place for the potential oversees visitor. {Mindys1245 (Wonder-Contributor)(<S>)}
Places to see outside the CBD
[edit]Beaches and Fox Studios are outside the CBD! Michellecrisp 00:33, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- Should the section about Newtown be taken out and the section for Kings Cross reduced. Mindys12345 এই সভ্যজন অসমৰجميع أفراد المجتمع . .
BridgeClimb
[edit]Does anyone else think this is, or is written as, an advertisement? I don't edit much, so I probably wouldn't make the best change.
No, it looks OK. The section describes what is on offer, not that it is a 'must see' or an 'amazing experience' or anything like that. Description of the process isnt necessarily advertising. Mdw0 (talk) 01:07, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
Domestic Visitors to Sydney?
[edit]The article's opening sentence indicates that 22.6 million Australians visited Sydney in 2009, but Australia's entire population is only 22.4 million. Something doesn't add up... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.8.220.116 (talk) 16:48, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
Parramatta is not significant
[edit]The Parramatta section is more a cheerleader for the area rather than outlining anything significant for tourists. So it has a business centre, a mall, a rugby league team and a soccer team - how is this more significant than other suburbs of Sydney? We are certainly not talking loads of international tourists coming to see Parramatta, or even domestic. Certainly the size of this section is unwarranted, but also its existance at all in the article.Mdw0 (talk) 00:17, 10 July 2014 (UTC)
All wrong
[edit]This article is all wrong. We aren't a tourist guide. This is supposed to be about the subject of tourism in Sydney. Instead it is a list. It not supposed to be a tourist guide for Sydney. Its the same as having a list of Australia's most popular car models for Road transport in Australia. - Shiftchange (talk) 02:06, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
