French Name
[edit]What is the French name for this team?--BigMac1212 (talk) 04:59, 25 February 2017 (UTC)
- The name is already French. "Aigles" is the French word for "eagles". oknazevad (talk) 07:30, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
Requested move 1 August 2024
[edit]- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: moved. Move 2 appears to be supported overall, I'll be selecting the nom title as there was no discussion of the alternative, but per WP:NOTCURRENTTITLE, another RM can be opened if needed for that.
As for move 1, there is 1 reply in opposition, but it also notes that the primary topic may not be clear, which is reflected by other responses, so until a discussion occurs to settle that, I will choose Trois-Rivières Aigles (2013) as opposed to leaving it at the current title, as omitting the dash is more consistent with our usual naming conventions.
A disambiguation page will be created at Trois-Rivières Aigles. (closed by non-admin page mover) ASUKITE 16:04, 5 September 2024 (UTC)
- Trois-Rivières Aigles (2013–) → Trois-Rivières Aigles
- Trois-Rivières Aigles → Trois-Rivières Aigles (1971–1977)
– Thinking on it, long-term significance leans towards the current team being the primary topic as it's been around longer and has had much more coverage than the defunct affiliated minor league team that only played for seven years some decades ago. The current team has already lasted nearly twice as long as the old team, and shows no signs of going away anytime soon, so in my mind it's proven itself to be the most likely intended subject for someone looking up the team name. oknazevad (talk) 21:10, 1 August 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. - Sounds reasonable to me. -- Pemilligan (talk) 22:41, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
- Agreed, just because it's older doesn't mean it should be the default.
- I can do stuff! (talk) 22:51, 1 August 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose 1, neutral 2. An Double-A team has more long-term notability than a Frontier League team. No objection, however, to a WP:NOPRIMARY setup. 162 etc. (talk) 02:07, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
- I really don't think that's true. Not in 2024, when the team played for only a few years half a century ago. oknazevad (talk) 05:39, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
- Support 2nd, this one has 602 views but the other only has 163[[1]]. A DAB may be the best option. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:17, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
- Move Trois-Rivières Aigles (2013–) to Trois-Rivières Aigles (2013) per usual disambiguation for existing organisations. Support 2nd. -- Necrothesp (talk) 11:57, 7 August 2024 (UTC)

- Relisting comment: So far move 2 has support and is probably okay barring any opposes, but 1 might need additional discussion. Also note that if move 1 is not performed, we will need something to do with the original base title at Trois-Rivières Aigles, probably a dab ASUKITE 21:29, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
- Support #1, Propose alternate dab for #2 of Trois-Rivières Aigles → Trois-Rivières Aigles (Eastern League) Spanneraol (talk) 23:50, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
