Merge into October 2017 North American storm complex?
[edit]The two storms are closely related. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 20:50, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
- I suggest merging the October 2017 North American storm complex article into Philippe. Philippe caused severe flooding and fatalities in Central America as well as tornadoes in Florida. The extratropical cyclone is practically a continuation of Philippe's remnants. Destroyeraa (Alternate account) 21:02, 10 November 2021 (UTC)
- Considering Phillipe did other impact as a tropical cyclone, I'd be against a merge and be in favor of Destroyera's suggestion (which has been done in similar situations in the past). YE Pacific Hurricane 00:54, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
- @Destroyeraa-alt: Incorrect. The storm complex was not the same storm as Philippe. They were both completely separate entities. Please review Philippe's TCR and the other WPC and NWS archives related to the storm. LightandDark2000 🌀 (talk) 01:08, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
I am Opposed to a merger. The storm complex was basically an unrelated storm that absorbed Philippe. Not only that, but the storms basically have no overlapping impacts of any significance. The articles are also both sufficiently developed to stand on their own. We don't have a shared MH, nor overlapping impacts here. As such, I oppose a merger here. - Strong Oppose The NWS clearly distinguishes the two storms as different storms altogether, and neither storm is meteorologically related to the other. Also, there are no overlapping impacts between the two storms. If we were to merge them, there would be nearly zero shared MH and impacts, so I think both articles would be better off standing alone. Also, as L&D mentioned above, both articles have sufficient information to stand alone too. ~ 🌀HurricaneCovid🌀 01:13, 11 November 2021 (UTC)
- But look at how much Florida impact is in this article. Most of the Florida impacts are a combo of Philippe and the new extratropical storm which became the storm complex. Philippe didn’t do enough on its own to warrant an article. Hurricanehink mobile (talk) 15:11, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
- True, I suppose the Central America flooding could be it’s own seperate article. 134.6.245.131 (talk) 17:39, 30 December 2021 (UTC)
- That could fit into Philippe's section in the season article. There wasn't that much Central America impacts. ♫ Hurricanehink (talk) 02:10, 31 December 2021 (UTC)
