Fair use rationale for Image:Tungsol-logo.jpg

Image:Tungsol-logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. Distinguishing NOS Tung-Sol from fake stuff

Since a company known for cheap Russian and Chinese tubes owns the brand now, how can you tell that a given Tung Sol tube is the real deal, or just re-branded crap? Thanks. 192.139.122.42 (talk) 19:22, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

New production New Sensor/Reflector produced Tung Sol tubes are labelled "Made In Russia". Pretty easy to spot. Micahmedia (talk) 03:45, 9 April 2017 (UTC)

The image of the Russian produced tube probably doesn't belong on this page, but on instead the Sovtek page. Kinda like how you wouldn't put a pic of a 1960's Dodge Dart on the Fiat page. Micahmedia (talk) 03:56, 9 April 2017 (UTC)

But we do do such things. Sometimes there's a cross-over between brands: Saabs and GM, Ford and Mazda.

In this case, two questions arise. Why are Russian valves branded as "Tung-sol"? Is this a technical or marketing move? Are they "Tung-sol valves" (a specific design from Tung-sol)? Are they 5881s (and why is the 5881 important?) Or did Tung-sol became a generic term in the Soviet Union for such imported valves, and is still a recognised brand? Re. Tung-Sol Electric

I note that the page covering Tung-Sol Electric Co. has two significant errors: (1) It states that the company was privately owned. That was doubtless true at some early time, but throughout most of the 1950s it was a NYSE-registered public corporation. (I was a Tung-Sol employee from 3/57 to 3/60, in their fledging semiconductor division.) (2) It states that the company changed its name (previously Tung-Sol Lamp Works) to Tung-Sol Electric in 1951 and "shortly thereafter" was acquired by Wagner Electric Co. That acquisition date is not correct; the Wagner acquisition happened some 8 to 10 years later than as noted.

Company Location and Movements

My relationship with Tung-Sol

The edits that I have done, answered many of the questions in talk. I have no friends, nor family, nor worked at Tung-Sol or any other affiliated company. I have seen a factory in Newark, NJ that was always there at the area not too far from my neighborhood and was interested in what was it being abandoned for decades. You can't miss this factory if you exit Interstate 280 east bound on the First Street exit to First Street near the corner of Orange Street. One day, I saw an elderly man several blocks from this factory working on a 1940s sedan car and I chit chatted when he told me he worked at Tung-Sol and they made ignition parts when you click the turn signals. I found that interesting as I studied automotive trade in high school. I never saw that man nor his car in over a decade. When I saw a Newark facebook group poster write a post that her mother worked at Tung-Sol but did not know where it was. I too saw the lack of information in the article on manufacturing locations. So I began to do the locations and continued with edits with as much information on what was Tung-Sol, its products and significance in the world, for days and seems like two weeks, December 29, 2022 with the initial location table. I do not have financial interests in a defunct company nor have any connections to the owners of the old factory which was placed as a historical place by New Jersey because it started as a shoe factory in 1915. I hope that all the facts of people were history additions but the table did not go with the guidelines. My last edit was the picture I took of the factory for those to remember as those that even take the light rail at the Orange Street station will see this building and maybe think, "What was this building?" and here is the Wikipedia article. A small company competed against the mighty giants in their industry and they crossed paths with other organizations. Rest in Peace, Tung-Sol, as many of your products will be part of the automotive or electronics industries. Hope when someone sees a Tung-Sol lamp or an electron tube, they can associate it to where it was made or other references in the article. Antonio cruz wiki (talk) 20:02, 14 January 2023 (UTC)
