Incorrect Diagram
[edit]The artery wall diagram at the top of the page is incorrect; the order of layers from inside to outside is
- Tunica intima
- Basement membrane
- Tunica media
- Tunica adventitia
. The TI and basement membrane have been swapped in the diagram. I am unsure as to weather Tunica Externa is a synonym for Tunica Adventitia, but I was always tought the latter rather than the former. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.129.244.124 (talk) 01:46, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
- As far as I can read, Tunica intima is and can be alternatively called Tunica interna, and, yes, Tunica adventitia can also be called Tunica externa. And I think your term 'basement membrane' is not incorrect, but it can be seen to be comprised of what the article mentions, the sub-endothelial layer and the internal elastic lamina.
