[edit]Given this may turn out to be an international incident, I figure you folks editing this article may want to start building up references. Since I do not want to step in anyone's toes, and as this may not yet be notable enough to make it into the article, I'll just let you folks figure it out.
It seems the Rappahannock fired on a rapidly approaching vessel from an yet-unidentified affiliation while deployed on the Gulf. Source here

- The article reads like a navy press release - hardy neutral. Particularly the reference to "with an unknown motorboat that approached the ship despite several warnings". I suggest that it needs to be much less POV and pro-USN.203.184.41.226 (talk) 06:03, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
Replishment at sea
[edit] Moved from my tp
- Rappahannock conducted a replenishment-at-sea
A replenishment-at-sea ship replenishes another ship at sea. Something it has done several 100 times. That is not notable. One mention in one source does not make it notable. Constant314 (talk) 02:08, 16 October 2023 (UTC)
- @Constant314: (This belongs on the article talk page, not my user talk page.) As I mentioned in my summary, these kinds of ships are rarely mentioned in notable sources. Sometimes we need to add events of lesser note to help build up the history. - wolf 02:18, 16 October 2023 (UTC)
