Interesting omitted feature - built around oak tree

[edit]

I recall reading in Arthur Mee's "The King's England: Cheshire" that Utkinton Hall was apparently built around an oak tree, the trunk of which formed a core pillar of the structure up into the roof area. I do not have this book so cannot refer to it and give page no etc, can someone else? I also saw this tree, apparently cut into a polygonal pillar, pictured in Fletcher Moss's book "Pilgrimages in Cheshire and Shropshire". It would make an unusual interesting point to add as this is rare.Cloptonson (talk) 14:24, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
