True Space Race winner
[edit]We are led to believe that Sputnik 1 was the first artificial object launched into space. But V-2 No. 13 was first, so America won the space race! Or does V-2 No. 13 not count? --BNSF1995 (talk) 19:50, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

- Sputnik was to first to orbit and launched from a rocket that could be used in a attack against the US - if necessary. So, it was far more important than just an suborbital flight. Erick Soares3 (talk) 21:04, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
