Altitude

[edit]

This table gives the altitude (presumably in the sense of maximum altitude reached) as 65 miles, not 107.5 miles as stated in the article. Regards, High on a tree (talk) 19:35, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Photo?

[edit]

It would be nice to see the photo the article refers to. 89.243.209.128 (talk) 00:08, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

True Space Race winner

[edit]

We are led to believe that Sputnik 1 was the first artificial object launched into space. But V-2 No. 13 was first, so America won the space race! Or does V-2 No. 13 not count? --BNSF1995 (talk) 19:50, 12 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sputnik was first to *orbit* Crispincowan (talk) 23:59, 20 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sputnik was to first to orbit and launched from a rocket that could be used in a attack against the US - if necessary. So, it was far more important than just an suborbital flight. Erick Soares3 (talk) 21:04, 13 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
