Title of 2017 Book

[edit]

Hello, I currently hold a copy of Vanessa's book, but the title is slightly different. It is titled Captivate: The Science of Succeeding with People, rather than Captivate: Using Science to Succeed with People. Any concerns?

Checks Facts will happily talk 16:42, 9 September 2017 (UTC) -- Looks like this has been fixed now, thanks! I will remove this note from the Talk page here eventually. Nickgray (talk) 15:06, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Article reads like an infomercial written by the subject

[edit]

Just looking at the opening paragraph, the article uses a lot of Vanessa Van Edward's own self-appointed terms:

"Vanessa Van Edwards is a behavioral investigator..."

What is a "behavioral investigator"? It seems to be a term she coined to describe herself.

"She is also a body language trainer specializing in science-based people skills."

What are "science-based people skills"? It reads like marketing-speak. Is that just communication skills training that draws on some scientific literature?

"She runs Science of People, a human behavior research lab..."

What is a "human behavior research lab"? This is another label Science of People has applied to itself.

The rest of the article isn't any better... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:F2C0:92E5:EA00:E4B5:4DE1:D8A9:E893 (talk) 21:40, 10 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

--- Oct 2023 update -- I've tried to fix a bunch of these, slowly picking my way through to make it more NPOV. Thanks for the tight edit suggestions, will come back when I have more time. Nickgray (talk) 15:40, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
